Of course! I'm always happy to help. I did body and paintwork professionally once upon a time, so just let me know if you have any questions. Good luck with your repair!

Replacement Wiper Blades vs Wiper Blade Rubber Inserts.

I was going for my annual inspection, and noticed the rubber on the wiper blades had deteriorated to the point of ripping. Well I have only got caught out in the rain maybe 3 times in several years so haven't paid attention to the condition. To expedite my inspection, I bought Bosh replacement wiper blades. I had to purchase the entire blade for both sides, and they work, but look goofy and sit quite high above the hood. I kept the original blades and tried to find the replacement rubber. This was not as easy as you may think, as everyone sells the entire blade now, not just the rubber. Finally, after several mistakes I found the solution. The longer Blade is an 8mm (5/16") wide by 650mm 26" long and the shorter 6mm (1/4") by 450mm (18"). These PIAA work and look way better on the factory arms. Hope this helps someone.

I’ve read this whole thread but was unable to determine whether 2 Floor jacks are required to lift the front/rear or if there is a front crossmember center lift point or not? I’m trying to determine if the 599 is a car I can get my hands on to repair without requiring a 4 point lift in my garage? What I do have is 4 Esco Jack stands with both rectangular (Mercedes) Jack points as well as some circular rubber Jack points, Ramps to get the front up, and a low profile floor Jack, not to mention a garage full of tools! I’d rather not have to resort to using a spare tire to hold up the front off the floor, if I could avoid it!

So after leaving the Leatherique on my dash overnight in a warm garage, I cleaned up my dash. Seats are next. Also I washed, clayed, and started the process of compound, polish, and ceramic coat the entire car. I'm using Adams products this time around with a 5" swirl killer machine. It's working very well!

I use four floor jacks to lift my 612, using the intended jacking points. Although it my be possible to find and use a central jacking point, I personally would not try it. An all-aluminum chassis designed for torsional rigidity may not respond well to a 2,000 pound force applied to a single point that was not engineered for this purpose. One thing I've found with my 4-jack system is that, with all 4 at the same height, I can remove one of the jacks and the car stays level while I swap in a jack stand.

So I ordered air horns today for my 599. I have always hated the horn and now it will have a proper Ferrari two air horn sound.

George, add 2 pairs not just one one pair of air horns. Air horns was the first thing added to my 599 when she first came into my life some 12 years ago. You will love them and she will sound like a true Ferrari.

Makes you wonder why they deleted them since the 575s had them.

I did that as well, when I first bought the car. Sounds much better with the high pitched horn! I saved the regular ones for originality.

I think - and I could be wrong, but it was a US reg to have the "normal horn"... I think .

Any car that can’t support its weight from one point under the engine or under the rear differential wouldn’t be allowed on the road. Especially any car that has 600HP under the hood. There has got to be Points like the Front Crossbar, where the middle screw is located securing the Engine Shield for example, and in the rear, under the Rear Differential where there are points to lift the car Front and Rear. One can understand why the Manufacturer may choose to not make it obvious!

I finally finished the wash, clay, compound, polish, ceramic coat, plus two step Leatherique interior. Many hours but the car looks really sharp!

It's funy, it would never occur to me to replace the horn. The only time I hear it is once a year during the mandatory vehicle inspection. :D

it was the first thing I did. I've always had the air horn sound in Ferrari's - to me its a let down when you hear the same horn a Honda has coming from a Ferrari... .

Little spring clean up jobs continue. A couple weeks ago I put the Pininfarina badges on the sides. I had my shop do the annual service, oil and brake fluid change, new cabin filter, state inspection. I also had them install a new TPMS ECU. It had failed and was causing "electrical system failure" error messages. Next week I have an upholsterer fixing my seats. The side bolsters popped out of the seat frame, so getting those clipped back in. At that point she should be ready to just drive and enjoy for while. I would like to address the stickies perhaps next year. But until then I am just enjoying the drive.
