Despite dozens and dozens of posts about mods voiding a warranty, people still sign warranty documents they have not read and the blame Ferrari for their own actions.

Hence the necessity of reiteration. Unfortunate, I agree.

Why do you think he was away for so long? He went to red writing school. I need to attend one day.

Only thing remotely associated with a warranty with his car is the floor jacks he uses.

How about if the dealer opened the values permanently ?

This is actually an interesting point that I had not considered on something that seems to be a common solution. Opening the valves permanently, without a doubt reduces back pressure on the system and essentially makes a straight through exhaust system. I would venture a guess that this is likely less back pressure than by adding an x-pipe. So by the same logic pinning the valves at the dealer or not voids the warranty. If the assumption is that doing anything voids the warranty then by the same logic I guess it’s void.

    Good question and thought.

Everyone wants a certified pre owned car…. Ferrari had to be the worst at warranty claims. My buddy just had his GT3 in because check engine issues, next thing you know they said new engine for you, for free. Out of the 70k bill, he is paying 2k. He had an exhaust, and there was no “back pressure bs”. They just fixed it. My 458 had gearbox fluid start to drip from a weep hole after I bought it about 700 miles into ownership, bought certified from Ferrari. They denied my repair even after telling them it could be an internal failure as weepholes don’t just leak. Nope, a leak is a leak and a leak isn’t covered. I love Ferrari but their customer relations sucks. 458 gone and when I get s 488 I won’t go certified for the extra 5k, I’ll
Just bank that money for when the turbo fails. Glad you are building yours up right and it’s not costing you 50k, which is absolutely absurd.

I asked my dealer to do this on my car which is certified and he told me that it’d void my warranty; perhaps for the exact reason you outlined.

Well my dealer asked me IF i wanted them to open the valves.

BTW 488 GTB I took out extended full factory warrantee for years 4 and 5 and now recently for years 6 and 7.

If there was an issue I wouldn't have been offered the extended full factory warrantees because they send information back to Ferrari and it is Ferrari that has to give the green light.

The whole reason for the valve is to decrease the sound for EPA readings. Once you are over 3,000 rpm they are open

It may be different where you are and what the manufacturer is and isn’t allowed to cover and you bring up a good point. Depending on where you live, and your relationship with your dealer can affect what is and what is not covered. I do understand the reason for this valve and in an ideal world would prefer a louder exhaust over all rpms, but I can live with it as is knowing that I’m covered on the warranty

    Agreed.

Please note I took out Full Factory Warrantee. This covers everything 100% like the original factory 3 year warrantee. ( sticky buttons , failing leather etc etc )

Anything other than this there are exclusions. It is dearer but is peace of mind.

I remember when my warranty expired. I always drove a little more carefully because of the fear of possibly breaking something was always in the back of my mind. Tbh it took a lot of the fun out of it. I get much more enjoyment now having a warranty whether I ever need to use it or not. Totally worth it to me.

Your relationship with your dealer has no impact whatsoever on what is or is not covered under a warranty.
Any dealer that says otherwise is profoundly mistaken or lying to you.

I have the same outlook…. It’s a totally different feeling driving these cars in warranty opposed to out of warranty. I sold my pristine 2019 AMG GTc Roadster one month after warranty ended. I feel like my F8 is a forever car but after my two more year extension is up, I’ll have a serious choice to make. Either buy years 6 and 7 or sell/trade it.

My 488 spider's buttons have gone sticky and I have the full warranty for years 6 & 7. Is it really true that the sticky buttons are covered?

If it is the full warrantee, then YES . Its just an extension of the given 3 year warrantee. EVERYTHING is covered.

it was a 15. I believe the 14/15 had known issues. He bought it knowing that and put 25k miles of smiles in 2 years and now free engine. Ferrari knows their turbos suck just like the getrag transmission has a seal known to fail. Their mentality is just buy a new Ferrari. Shane, I love the cars and will just budget for pure turbos when I get the 488. I won’t tune it, just lower and exhaust and that will probably blow a turbo….. Porsche knows of issues and handles them. Great customer service.
