I gotta try one now. I’m totally intrigued.
I had a C7 Z06 in red/black. Stunning car with crazy performance. With a manual transmission it was so much fun to drive. Image Unavailable, Please Login
The back end of the C8 is ugly, SR or Z06. The rest of the body looks nicer. Also having no manual is a no go for me.

I've tracked around 30,000 miles at Watkins over the past 20 years so I have a decent amount of experience...mostly in dedicated track cars. We were paced but I was able to get some separation from the group for a few corners during our laps. Car seems very planted and has plenty of "scoot" at the "Toe of the Boot" going up the hill. Car has factory Cup 2R's on it so it had plenty of grip and the brakes were spot on (has a nice firm brake pedal). It does weigh 400 pounds more than it should. At 3,100-3,200 pounds this car would be a serious weapon! I'm not going to modify this car for track duty, it's more a fun weekend car. Car is just too fast/capable to track without a cage/harnesses...etc. It's definitely a sub 2:00 min car right out the box. I would be slapping some Hoosier R7's on it and replacing the CCB's with a steel AP Racing big brake kit if I were tracking it on a regular basis.
I was thinking the same: GM should offer a weight-reduced version of the car for hard core track use (low-weight manual seats, ditch the rear soft-close, etc etc etc), it would just make it that much better.
Great pic of your car. Hope your son had fun. Not many kids get that opportunity. My car passes it's 6 month warranty anniversary later this month so .......
Not much information out yet regarding the ZR1 regarding launch date, etc so who knows. Hopefully, there will be some info coming out at the Museum Bash at the end of the month.
Teaser on the new ZR-1 https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums/c8-z06-zr1-zora-discussion/4822000-official-the-zr1-is-coming-this-summer.html
Doesn’t give much info on a real timeline as the summer announcement could be merely the official unveiling.
ZR1. The wing looks more serious and I like the vented hood. Love to see these items migrate toa more serious track focused z06. Motor is rumored to be a5.5 quad cam cross plane crank twin turbo. All of which makes sense as turbos are not high rev motors and cross plane works wonders for lower down tq etc. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I only have 25 miles on mine...but in that short amount of time, I don't think I have ever wanted to reach the engine break-in mark as quickly as I do with this car. Other than the Chevy Malibu sounding turn signal indicator, I have zero complaints. A tremendous 'bang-for-the-buck.' If GM only offered a 6spd option... Image Unavailable, Please Login
I find it kind of funny that some vette enthusiasts are trying to guess the ZR1 hp by comparing the expected engine displacement (5.5 L?) to various Ferrari models and their eventual hp per litre.
If the ZR1 comes out with 850hp, has AWD, is roughly the same (or less) weight as the ZO6, and be had with a manual transmission I am definitely in. I need something significantly different than my ZO6 for me to justify having it in my garage. My ZO6 is not going anywhere...it's just too good. It will be an interesting reveal for the ZR1 this summer.
