355 Non-airbag steering wheel F355

It seems Von Braun is in the works of reproducing the non-airbag steering wheel for the F355

Anyone pre-ordered one and what cost?

Doesn't even look close, bad replica...just look at the center dome...

 

I am assuming what we are seeing is just a prototype, and before final smoothing and leather covering?

I looked into doing this a few years ago, as I have a lot of contacts in Italy who work in wheel and shift knob manufacturing. The consensus at the time was it was a pretty complex project and the numbers just wouldn't have penciled out. The way these wheels are constructed is actually a lot more like later airbag wheels than your typical non-airbag wheel. The spokes and center are the technical challenge to manufacture, not the rim and front cover.

So I do applaud whomever is dong this project!

 

Looks close enough to me. Once upholstered it should look satisfactory.

 

Is this being done properly or is someone 3D printing critical safety devices in their basement?

 

If it's designed properly, it should have metal substrate embedded in the material.

 

This project has been concieved and developed by highly skilled professionnals and respected Ferrari specialists in Europe.

I beleive they kept the original for replication.

I guess @Senshi458 was in contact with them a few years ago trying to buy it.

I emailed them asking for a price, no reply yet. Anyone know how much $$$?

I believe they will start with a batch of 10. If it’s a hit, no reason to stop.

From what I found, that is actually a great price. I could not have manufactured them for anything close to that amount in Italy.

 

I believe they are open to customization.

 

To good thing about our steering wheels is I do not believe it is Connolly leather. It is a general Napa leather, which is not difficult to match or come close.

 

Just spoke to them. They are here and available 3,200 euros plus tax !

 

I spoke with them about a smaller diameter version back in February, and was told to contact Torbjörn (CEO) about that. Never followed up on that.
Looks like they missed their target price of 1,950€.

 

Yes he said cost.much more than they thought to produce. Might still go for it. Will get it back on the value.
