Yep, that's it, I will check that. Does the valve cover need to come off to swap the solenoid? Also, what do you like to use to clean the oil off the valve cover? That red paint does not like to be rubbed too hard...

I use Griot’s Garage Foaming Engine Detailer to clean spots, or Griot’s engine cleaner for the whole engine. I use a boar’s hair brush to lightly scrub dirty areas. Then apply Griot’s engine dressing to make things shine.

Thanks everyone for your input. I am going to clean the valve cover in the area around the solenoid and keep an eye on any oil. I saw that Maserati makes the same exact variator solenoid but with a slightly longer wire pigtail available at a better price. If indeed I do need to replace the solenoid, I will replace all 4 and will go that route and do it myself over a winter weekend. It looks like getting the engine frame out of the way makes the job much easier so I will figure out how to do it that way.

Annual service number five complete. A few random pics. Took the time to repair my CV axle heat shields and my coolant reservoir rubber supports, which three of the four were broken. Also took a LOT of time adjusting my exhaust tips. That is not a fun job. One interesting find was someone used a wood screw to hold the stereo amp in place. Replaced that with the correct fastener. Two full days of work, and I still need to wipe everything down, but glad to have that done.

Dominick, it was a LOT of trial and error. I have the Capristo exhaust brackets and it was a combination of loosening the cat fasteners, putting a bottle jack under the tips I was trying to raise, and adjusting the Capristo brackets a bunch of times until I had them where I wanted them. I’m sure the dealers/professional techs have a better way of doing this.

    Looks incredible Allen!

Mine had that wood screw too, is it possible that's how it came? I put in a proper machine bolt and nut, now it's secure.

Since ours are both 08s and in close proximity VIN wise, I wonder if the person installing that screw ran out of the correct ones and was using a stockpile of wood screws. My threads were still good so I was able to install the proper fastener. Interesting……o_O

Hi AandSC, been reading this thread and the work you've done looks incredible. Do you by any chance know what type of software and hardware I would need to DIY a Ferrari 360 ECU remap?

That IS interesting, mine isn't threaded, just a hole in a plate and the screw went in on an angle

Mine's been monkeyed with as I have an aftermarket amp I just remembered, so who knows...

    Thanks Michael!

I haven’t had to do any ECU work so I can’t speak to this. Trev is probably the best person to talk to.

Great thread! Had my 360 since October. So far have just done a few minor repairs / changes.

-Replaced clutch MC (with help of wife in our tiny messy garage)
    -Replaced seats
-Replaced blown lower speakers with Focal units. Aligned windows to seal better with door and refinished interior door handles at the same time

Looking forward to it's annual this summer, and a major in about 2 years :)

Annual number six in work. Figured it was time to do the engine mounts as I have no record of them being replaced and they were getting close to bottoming out. Pic of the last two engine mount bolts in the U.S. according to my parts dealer. Replaced the bolts, nuts and wavy washers.

Also, drained my gearbox oil and then realized I didn’t have the crush gaskets so I’ll be waiting for those, along with the rest of my coolant hoses.

Someone mentioned a warm up and re-fill procedure for the gearbox that is in the workshop manual.

My mounts "looked OK" but were so done.

Wow! Those were done. Was expecting mine to be the same but surprisingly they were still in one piece.

This was a much easier job than I was expecting. A lift and a transmission jack help a lot.

Ive got quite a few videos on youtube documenting all the service i've done on my 360, but due to rules here i can't really post links to it as its considered self promotion. So far i've covered:

    Engine mounts / Gearbox mount
    Timing belts
    Variators
    Heat exchanger / Thermostat
    Intake manifold plenum gaskets
    Injector cleaning and rebuilding

All engine maintenance so far, but i have some suspension work to do still.

Is that HP Sticky shield on the axel heat shields? If so, that stuff is fantastic and well worth the money paid for it. Used it a bunch on my Viper in the side sills by the doors to keep out the radiant heat and also on the exhaust itself and it made a dramatic improvement.

It’s just basic heat shield. Had I known about the sticky shield I would have used it. May have to make that a future upgrade.
