my old biz partner had few old v8 vantages and they struggled with traction at 500 hp. will be a luxurious and fast car but doubt will be a sports car.

My experience 458 on you could go to Ferrari order a car from a dealer at msrp
Might be waiting 18 months but you could buy a car.

prior to that a dealer wound t take a deposit cause one of the favored was going to get the car and flip it back to the dealer 6 months later so the dealer could up charge you

you’re not ordering a 911 porche today without paying the up charge directly to the dealer at delivery

Saw my first Emira driving in the wild today in London. Double take to figure out what Ferrari it was….nope, looked better!
Dark green or black, couldn’t tell on an overcast grey day.
    Got me excited for mine.

"Flippers" are the least of Lotus' problems....

As far as ADM's, the market ALWAYS corrects itself, as it is doing right now.
Anyone paying over MSRP for an Emira is hopefully doing it because they want to be the first on their block. If they are thinking/hoping the additional money will come back to them upon resell, IMO they are going to be disappointed.

Was in South Africa saw several Emira parked next to 458 and f8
At first glance it def has that exotic look. But then you look at the beauty of line on a 448 from the doors back, where an Emira looks a little heavy. look at things like panel gaps and alignment and even a 458 is better
The f8 better than both almost as good a New porche.
I gues with the lotus you get a more exotic look than a porche but less design harmony and build than a Ferrari. the Toyota v6 works but it’s not a Ferrari motor. Cable shift is not an issue till you really rush it.
We’ll see how it steers m the evora imo wasn’t great in that dept this one may be.

as I see it 1/4 the price of a 296 for 80% of the look and as much road performance as is likely to be used on road.or porche cayman gts performance with Ferrari looks and new Vette build
They certainly have a niche staked out. Mechanicaly Toyota powered lotus have been robust for a while, so if it doesent rattle and squeak they’re there.
Plus compared to any exotic or porche it’s going to be pennys on the dollar to run.
The euro exotic to the heavy overwrought Vette, if only it had something like a z06 motor

I hope Lotus can get this thing off the ground, but I have my doubts.
Other than rarity (and a crappy manual according to most tests), it has a lot of minuses and too few plusses against the obvious competition. The C8 Stingray is a lot faster, likely more reliable, less expensive, has more utility, is probably a lot cheaper to maintain. Most of the Stingray's advantages apply to the Cayman GTS.

And how in the world did this car get held up for SO long over emisssion standards in the U.S.?
It's 99% the same engine (Toyota SC V6) as the Evora.

I had a fairly new Evora - with the supercharged 400+ HP engine - and it’s when the Emira was announced as “exactly more of the same” that I bailed…

Was no evolution of the platform - just completely recycled - which convinced me they’d lost the will to innovate…

That’s what’s sad…it is a “recycled” Evora and they still had/have issues. I could cut them some slack if it was REALLY a new car. It’s hard to get away with “quirky” when the competition is SO good.

Imo what this car needs is a "motor", Its better more exotic looking than a Cayman, and the vette is over large and looks like it was drawn by a 7 yo with crayons.
However the vette can really move and most roads in usa are straight with lights. the vette(stingrey) is imo like cut price lambo and emira a cut price ferrari. That is until we get to the z06 which is in another performance/experience category entirely. For the emira to remotely compete with the z06 on performance/emotion or even cayman Gt4/rs it needs some sort of "MOTOR"

Maybe the 4cyl amg motored emira could be something performance if not emotion wise, but theyre doing a damp squib 360 hp version which makes no sense as the same motor in a mercedes is nearly 100 hp more and these motors are reportedly mapped to 500+ hp. If they could get the weight to 2900lbs and the 4 cyl to 500hp for 120K they'd have slam dunk on the Gt4rs.

lotus is lost in electric dreams, if they develop the emira they'll get it right 3 years after the fact as with the evora. As it is this car offers a manual and a more exotic looking alternative to a cayman, a cool niche to fill.Is it worth a 50k premium over a bmw M2? I suppose its more exotic than a cayma Gts 4.0

  14. It's harder to develop an engine than it is a chassis.

    Just ask Mclaren.

a story lotus knows well from the esprit days both 4 cyl and 8. They told me you have to be assured of at least 2500 units sales per year before it remotely makes sense.

fortunately there are great off the rack motors
Look at Aston with the amg motors.

lotis could even be using one of those amg v6 motors 500hp easy
Or they could have bought the Cadillac quad can blacking
Even the Lexus v8 is nice
So many good choices out there
Ford dark horse v8, the list is long

or just loose 1-200 lbs and a + 500 hp version of the amg 4 they’re already doing.

as is besides some styling and a nostalgia trip for the stick emira v6 why would I really wnat one, wkere does it stand out.
Paddles 540 ho amg 4 2900 lbs now we’re talking

Agreed looks really nice in flesh.
Im sure it drives very nicely on road, and looks/feels more exotic than a vette or porche.
Wish they would develop it into something really special instead of just chasing electric dreams.

I will once I get it. I was told in December my car was in port in Baltimore - turns out it was at port in Italy so once California got their way (don’t get me started), it had to cross the ocean. I should get it Thursday and then off to get PPF. Hope to be driving it Sunday or Monday.
