Here are the first renderings of my new 3D printed midrange adapter for the Lusso door speakers. The first image is of the stock speaker, the second is with an aftermarket speaker installed. Note that I am incorporating the OEM speaker connector into the adapter fixture, just like OEM. Totally plug and play.

There was one thing we were waiting on, which is the allowable depth from the face of the door to the nearest obstruction (the window frame). It turns out that we have almost 5" of clearance in there, so placing a high end speaker is going to be no problem whatsoever.

Now someone needs to come up with a dongle that allows apple play for $500 or less

More images of the midrange fixtures.
With any luck, I'll be test fitting these in an actual Lusso door by the end of next week.
The deep, conical design of the fixtures not only protects the back of the driver from moisture but helps to generate more mid bass and a generally warmer sound. There are aftermarket add-ons (made of rubber) with the same shape for this but it's nice to be able to integrate it into the overall design.

After making a couple of small changes, we have completed the design for the midrange fixtures. I put in the order this morning to 3D print two of these, which will arrive in 5 days. The hyper directional tweeter pods will arrive in 3 days. I will be test fitting these parts next week in a Lusso. If everything goes well, I'll have a complete door speaker replacement system up on my website, ready to order, by the end of next week.

    Thanks brother.
One thing we forgot (and will be present on every part from now on) is embossing the polarity on the adapters. There will be a '+' and a '-' on the inner wall of each adapter, making the connection simple.

For those of us that like to DIY, will any instructions be provided for door panel removal? Or do you simply pry out the grille?

The tweeter pods arrived on time, so I was able to take some pictures of the completed system (door speakers upgrade) for both the standard and premium grades.
I'll be releasing these new products on my website within the next day or two. I'm 9 orders behind right now and I've got to get these orders out first.

I'm headed to Sacramento tomorrow to an exotic auto wrecker to take some pictures of my speakers bolted to a Lusso door (which has been removed from the car which was involved in a crash) to show the fitment. If I can get my hands on a local, intact Lusso for a couple of hours, I should be able to produce a video on how to remove and reinstall the door panels. Otherwise, a shop manual would provide step by step instructions on how to do this.
