New contender for single din carplay

So is it correct that both this harness from Scuderia Audio, and the Amazon one you linked to earlier are needed and the wires need to be soldered together to make it all work?

I ordred the radio at Walmart and want to make sure I have all the other wiring that is needed.

If you have the HiFi system (not Bose), then yes, you need that harness I linked. You’ll have to join that harness with the harness from the power acoustic radio with those solder connectors or via some other method.

On the back of the packaging of that harness you’re going to buy it will tell you what each colored wire is for (ACC, Power, Ground, Left Speaker, Right Speaker, etc.). You’ll match those up to the wires on the power acoustik radio (they are labeled as well). Here’s the back of the packaging:

I’m interested in this setup, but primarily for Waze. I’ve googled and can’t find a single din Waze image. Would someone mind either taking a pic or letting me know how usable Waze is on these? Thanks in advance (realize I’ve asked this once already but I think my request was lost in the conversation).

 

My previous head unit is an Alpine and was connected to a crossover to amp to speakers. The picture below show the connections - aside from ACC, BATT, Ground, the only other connections are for the 4 speaker wire pairs. I did not connect the car antenna or the GPS antenna. I have to say that the Alpine unit was clean, no white noise or hiss, so I am pretty certain the fault is with the unit. Also, I called 3 people using Carplay and all calls had echo on the other side (my side of the call was very clean).

If you want to use this unit for calls, you are going to need an external mic. There is a jack on the back of the unit for one. Maybe you have a bad ground, or maybe the unit is defective? You should go get another one and try it out if your local wal mart has one. The good thing about Walmart is their generous return policy.

 

I will try to take a pic for you, but it works just like any of the other CarPlay units. The screen is just a little smaller.

Does anyone know if this will plug and play as I have the Bose factory fit in my car

 

So I went through the owners manual, and there is no navigation software for this unit besides CarPlay apps. What is the purpose of the GPS antenna? I didn’t hook it up, but what’s the advantage to doing so??

 

I bought one up in Simi Valley for my 360, but I never thought about getting another for my S2000! Great idea!

Can’t get sound out of the car. And the tech doesn’t know what that blue and green connector is for.
Any thoughts?

Did you wire those RCAs into the harness? If so you have to plug them into the back of the head unit. Tough to tell with that picture.

also you probably need the blue/white wire run in order to send a signal to the amp to tell it to turn on. Doesn’t look like it’s connected but I can’t tell.

 

Huge upgrade for these cars! Sounds great works great, and took me 15min to install.

lol you are safe here sir, I’m the resident Swiftie here. I don’t want to derail the thread lol.
This single din is a great find. Glad I saw it here and got one before they went out of stock. Wild it took this long for someone to step to the plate.

I am ready to pay someone for the Ferrari splash screen… that’s above my pay grade.

 

I can't believe it was only $140 and from Walmart. Really brings the cabin into 2024 and I'm shocked how good it sounds.

 

A Ferrari splash screen would take this unit over the finish line!

 

Given that these head units are so popular with the BMW and S2000 guys, hopefully it’s only a matter of time until someone figures it out.
