Yes equal status for sure. Under this scenario, looking at the bigger picture for Sainz would be, if this is Alonso's final contract, which is not an unrealistic idea, then he could become the #1 driver going well into the new aero specs.
In a concertina effect serial collision, it's usually the last driver who is blamed for the damage, not the one who in fact caused it. I don't wish anyone to test that rule after a pile-up on the motorway.
Another boneheaded blunder, unfortunately he ruined two other competitors' races(without offering an apology). His situational/spatial awareness is inconsistent.
Of course in a concertina effect, some are closer than others, and some react quicker too. Sometime one manages to stop without hitting anyone, only to be rammed by a few cars too! But generally, it's the driver of the last car that makes contact who is blamed.
Imagine being so rich that your hobby is driving an F1 car… in actual F1 races… with your own team… and with an aging former driver champion as teammate as your sidekick. Sounds like the making of a ‘70s TV series in the mold of Hart to Hart, LOL. Any Hollywood producers out there? Let’s do lunch and discuss.
To many it would be a nightmare. Being considered one of the worst drivers in F1, one of the most unlikeable people. Everyone knowing you are only there because you are milking the money wad of dad. Being the cause of so many accidents and receiving so much hate. That amount of negativity would be hard to handle. Except the Stroll's are so delusional and self absorbed they don't recognize this reality. He could easily go drive in sports car as part of a team of more qualified drivers and perhaps get carried to a good result. His dad could buy any F1 car out there and drive it as a hobby. The perks of his dad's wealth will never go away, but he wouldn't need to be one of the biggest jokes in motorsports history any longer.
Exactly this. His experiment failed. The only team member he beat was another pay driver that no one heard from before or since. Time to bow out and stop embarrassing himself. Race sports cars of any kind, he'll still race just not as many people criticizing him. **** Aston Martin could even build their own car... PS still waiting on that crow dinner someone here promised us
Yep. Lance is in F1 for his own INDIVIDUALISTIC hobby. It's all about ME...ME...ME.....and screw everyone else. Lance is no team player but you and @william love this kid for his INDIVIDUALISTIC ideologies. Like I said before "It takes teamwork to make the dream work."
I think you have a problem; the world is not like you want it to be. Does it bother you that much that tifosi12 and myself don't jump on the bandwagon to denigrate Lance Stroll ? I really don't understand what you are getting at. I find his presence refreshing in an over serious atmosphere. Motor racing is THE individual sport "par excellence" ; there is no team sport here ! They even crash in each other !! A driver's team mate is his first opponent, we keep being reminded. Also, what's wrong for someone who can afford it to be in F1 as a hobby ? Are you jealous ? Motorsport started among rich people indulging in their hazardous and expensive passtime of racing among themselves. Was that the wrong IDEOLOGY ?
So in real life, the law (statute and case) is that the car that hits the car in front of them is the at-fault driver. The premise on roadways is that if you can’t stop in time, you were too close, inattentive, or didn’t keep your brake system in appropriate working order. The only defense that can be tested in court is that the driver ahead committed a malicious act to cause the collision (which is one of the favorite ways staged crashes happen, the car swerves into your lane and slams on the brakes. None of the three underlying reasons absolves the driver behind from legal culpability.
That ideology that your representing(individualism) in F1 just doesn't work after 8 years in the sport...at least in the top teams where both drivers have to carry their own weight.
There are people who have enough backbone to completely ignore negative public opinion. Why should they let themselves be influenced by those who are only motivated by envy? I don't blame them for disregarding the daily lynch mob that welcomes their every move. I praise the Strolls for doing their own things without paying the slightess attention to the critics.
The dashcams changed a lot of that, and demonstrated that malicious acts are more common than initially thought.
Envy? Who is envious of them? Saying he sucks because he sucks and shouldnt be in F1 because he sucks and that there are many many drivers that should be in F1 because they don't suck is not envy. It's the truth. I certainly don't wish I had to a billionaire dad to buy an F1 team to keep me in F1 if I didn't deserve it.
