Lance is leaving Alonso to hang out and dry but Lance doesn't really care nor does his father and in my book, that's not a team player. It's amazing Alonso still has the fortitude to maximize with what he has when he can and where he can. I just don't get why someone would support an individual whose sole purpose is to "not be a team player" after so many years in F1 while the other driver is doing the complete opposite to help the team on the track.
This season Stroll has somehow really gotten worse. He's way off the pace of his teammate and is making total boneheaded moves during the race. He's like a slower Pastor Maldonado, with even less personality. I can't remember a driver this bad ever being in a top team.
Do you have a stake in F1 to want it ruled as you would like ? Probably not. If you don't like how it operates (warts and all) or the people who participate in it, simply don't watch it. It's obviously not a healthy environment for someone with your high standards.
I wish I had a say of how F1 is ruled and how it operates. I assure a much more authentic racing series than what we have now. Nevertheless, as a fan I am entitled to my own opinions about it just as you are. And you and I have the luxury to talk about it or even debate it. The entire world is an unhealthy environment for someone of my high standards. Do you suggest I turn off my enteral lights too?
I don't understand at all your analysis of the situation: Alonso races for Alonso, Stroll races for Stroll. Alonso doesn't race for Stroll, and neither Stroll can race for Alonso. They don't hold hands when racing. So I cannot see how one could carry the other: F1 is an individual sport, I would say by definition. Nothing says that team mates have to be of the same strength, or contribute equaly. When it has occasionally happened (Senna-Prost, Piquet-Mansell, Hamilton-Rosberg), it had led to internal conflict. Would you say that Senna, or Piquet were "team players" ? Hell no !!! They had massive egos !
But you are suggesting I do what you want. I welcome a conversation or debate when someone doesn't share my view. It seems since I didn't share yours you suggested I stop watching F1. This is a pretty big side step from me asking you who was envious of Lance Stroll's as you claim.
Look, Senna and Piquet did have massive ego's but we're talking about Lance Stroll. You and I know it's very unhealthy to put 2 massive ego's in the same team in F1. All I am saying is Lance Stroll isn't helping out Alonso on the track....or really anyone that has been his team-mate. I mean, when your team-mate bangs in over 70% of the points total year-after-year......that's just plain insanity in a team sport like F1.
If Lance Stroll is going to stay in F1 and has proven he will never be competitive among the good drivers (let alone the elite), then he should be a #2 driver in every way imaginable. The car gets designed around Alonso's preferences. Upgrades go to Alonso first. Best engine's go to Alonso. Best strategy Alonso. Stroll should be asked to play defense to Alonso and disturb the competition's races. This sounds unfair, but it is a proven system that works. Schumacher, Hamilton, Verstappen. It works.
Well, you can spin that fantasy around him—sure, I can think of worse existences—but ultimately, I’m sure Stroll Sr.’s plan for his son was for him to become a successful F1 driver. Seeing him now as not only not successful but instead being considered the worst hazard on the grid must hurt. Unless he’s delusional and believes he’s actually good, he can’t be too happy with his lack of success and poor reputation—just watch Max’s reaction to seeing the crash today—and must surely be questioning what to do next.
Absolutely not. All this is all in your head!!! F1 isn't a team sport !!! Jim Clark had team mates like Trevor Taylor, Pete Arundell, or Dave Walker who hardly scored any points when he was winning championships or finishing second. Don't forget, only one driver can win !
I don't think we should continue this sterile conversation. None of us is going to change opinion anyway.
From another forum lol!! — FIA should implement a new rule "Hitting another car under a safety car is an immediate DQ & Race Ban" Call it "Stroll's Law"
Applies to Aston the personal F1 team of Lance. There is not team in Stroll. Its a dead pipe-dream but the grid suffers the OBVIOUS and UTTER idiocy of a father-son dream that is dead buried and now literal joke of the paddock. Lance is a complete sham as a driver or personality. He has the ego but not the skill to back it up. Again Aston is not a team at all. Its a personal play toy for the family.
Surely the AM team think differently, Mike Krack and the other XXX hundred staff all work for the team. Just because rich daddy wants to put his son in one car doesnt detract it from being a team game. My problem is when the team orchestrate the driver results to the detriment of the supporting fans. But i agree LS is void of any talent and its sad that daddy cannot see it, but its his money to waste.
Truth is Lance would be a very respectable driver in WEC. Lawrence just need to finance an AM hypercar or ldmh.. Problem solved.
I would gladly swap places with Lance. Seriously. I have driven several F1 cars and was always one of the slowest drivers. Did it matter? Not one bit. I enjoyed myself. And Lance is doing the same on a much, much bigger scale. More power to him.
How so? He has half the field beaten in points, podiumed, had Pole position. The "experiment" as you call it, is very much alive and continues to the detriment of many on here. If the car gets any better, chances are good Lance will end up on the podium more often. Haters' heads will explode.
If Lance ends up on the podium more often then Alonso, an old man, would be winning races regularly. He's a useless POS that takes zero accountability for his latest **** up. He drives into the back of 2 drivers, ending 1 of their races and the other one nurses the car back home. Lance? Couldn't even utter the word sorry or take any accountability. He's had EVERY opportunity in F1 to show if he's capable of doing something. He's had the best pre-F1 training since Lewis Hamilton. and he's still ****ing useless. There is no defending that clown. None. Only if you seek to be a contrarian. Alonso has scored 77.5% of the points for that team so far this year. Despite the rediculous penalties and piss poor strategy yesterday. Stroll is a ****ing embarrassment.
Here’s a stumper: Is the Lance Stroll experiment more to the detriment of the viewers, or the budgets of his and other teams?
