Anyone else notice how much CPU, memory and Ethernet F-Chat consumes?

I notice my fan running all the time as well.

This is with just Chrome, and snip tool open (far left side). Then I opened F-Chat (right-side).

It didn't used to be that way. I never noticed my fan running so much.

The No Script is causing my profile drop down to be on all the time. I also cannot paste in snips now.

I love noscript but I find it to be a little excessive sometimes

I don't mean to distract from the existing extensions, but these are the ones I'd suggest for chrome - mostly because they are significantly more popular and should be a little more user friendly

    https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/adblock-plus-free-ad-bloc/cfhdojbkjhnklbpkdaibdccddilifddb

It's only a matter of time until chrome gets rid of all these type of extensions, maybe brave is the next best choice

google already slows down youtube for users of adblock plus

The nonsubscribed experience with network ads is a little more resource intensive, but it shouldn't be enough that you notice or bothers you. FYI I have all the ads just like nonsubscribers so I can monitor things. I also use Chrome. I am having zero performance issues right now, so I don't think it is FerrariChat or the ads. Generally a good history and script clean, updating all software, and a reboot will get things back to normal.

    Thanks Rob, appreciate the feedback.

But only F-Chat acts like this. Amazon, no, Ebay, no. Reverb, No. News websites, no.

I do notice F-chat has a whole bunch of moving pictures now, rotating ads, etc. I didn't used to be that way.

    Thanks

On my computer FChat works perfectly. The mobile version of the site has some problems like the search bar randomly deciding to not work, the reply box being often laggy and sometimes being unable to register inputs but just writing whatever I want to do so in my notes and pasting it here is alright. These are probably known issues only I face daily due to the fact that I hate Tapatalk but either way I can participate in the forum so not a big deal.

OK, I haven't seen those problems iPhone Safari, but the ads are more annoying on mobile than desktop.

My anecdotal contribution at non-subscriber level (I should change that) is no heavy load on my computer.

That’s something piggybacking, Fchat (the browser) itself should take a tiny amount of CPU resources, and memory. (On a mid range computer say 4 years old, if your running son something budget and 10 years old, YMMV, but then you would see it on all websites.)

With the adblock on I get a normal experience (left side.) When I turn the adblock off, close and open the browser I am at 100% CPU (right side).

This is after a full Microsoft virus scan and only Chrome (F-chat), Task Manager & Snip Tool open.

I can live with the ads but not the performance drop.

there shouldn't be that noticeable of a difference. other users aren't seeing the same thing. I agree the ad scripts are hanging you up, but not sure why. Some browser version, configuration, or cookie that is giving you a different experience with the ad provider that other users aren't seeing.

we will have @Kirillos take a look. thanks.

I suspect nothing is wrong with your machine, it's just the ad load on a processor that can't cope with it. The CPU you have there is about 13 years old. Ads and the web are a lot more complex now than they were back then. Ad block is likely the easiest solution (reduce the amount of work you're asking the CPU to do) but a newer machine would likely feel like an F1 car by comparison.

I switched to brave browser after you mentioned it

It's fast! And many of my old extensions worked too, and I didn't need to install ublock origin, noscript, or adblock plus - all those features are built int

I will still keep using nextdns.io though, it's way faster to never load the ads in the first place, and preventing dns resolution of ad servers is a great start to kill the connection from even starting!
