It's not a paywall, it's just asking in German which cookies you want to accept, strictly necessary or all the privacy invasive ones as well.

I want to know what the date code was on those tires.

Just a guess, 8am in cold weather, old Pirelli PZeros, a little too much boost in the tunnel to hear the sound of those LM pipes?

I’m not sure how “for sale” a 21,000km euro car is at €2,900,000. Still sad to see it crashed.

Who among us hasn't goosed the throttle in a nice long tunnel? :)

It probably sounded epic. Until it didn't.

Cliffs Notes version. First F40 delivered to NorCal dealer being driven to service department by salesman for PDI and followed by happy new owner down a walled in narrow freeway. Weather, cold dreary and drizzly. Salesman rolled into throttle merging on freeway with fresh PZeros screwd car around, took off front and rear on brand new delivery miles car.
This is not the first time.

The roads in that tunnel look a little damp, cold temperatures all day, a little oil rising to the surface.

It would be interesting to know how many F40 are still in existence. Because when you look around in social media and Google a little bit you get so many news on different heavy F40 accidents from around the world, including incidents where F40 went up in flames without an accìdent.

Nearly all are still in existence, even the ones that have arisen in one form or another like a Phoenix from the ashes.

Damage is well over €100k. Just look at the photos and that doesn’t even address what’s hidden.

who gave the keys to an F40 to a 24 year old? glad he's ok, but that car is going to need a few more pallets of cash more beyond the 100k euro estimate

Dealers all over the world have driving employees younger than that. I worked in a Ferrari dealer as a mechanic test driving cars younger than that. F40 was not around when I was that age but I certainly drove 4 cams and Daytonas when I was that young. The question for me is what was he doing making a trip on a Sunday? Even when I was that young and authorized to do it I would have been unlikely to be on the autobahn in the rain in an F40. You test drive cars for a reason and often that reason and slippery roads are at odds with each other.

And yeah, thats going to be more than 100 and then there is the diminished value aspect. Their insurance man had a bad day yesterday.

One dealer I worked at the owner, the sales manager and the shop foreman were all specifically excluded from our insurance because of their driving records. Another we had 2 bad lot boy wrecks and insurance banned everyone under 25 from driving.

He was taking it to a car show 11 miles from the dealership to get the car more exposure for a possible sale.

    Hi Brian,
there is a big classic car event location nearby where classic car owners and dealers are invited to celebrate "start into to classic car season" each year. He was on the way to this event.
The F40 was fresh stock the dealer got only recently.

Thanks both of you. Had not seen that.

With that weather it should have been on a truck.

Young guy + F40 + rain. Should have been a foreseeable outcome. Not to mention the filthy mess the road conditions made of the car.
