New contender for single din carplay

Everyone should email their support asking for splash screen edit. Maybe we could pay them to create for us?

 

My car already had an aftermarket head unit and amp. I didn’t even use the speaker wires in the provided wiring harness. I used rca cables to the amp from the head unit.

This is my harness. The tech tried to have sound through the RCA but nothing came out. He then tried to connect the cables directly in the harness, to no avail.
Kind of blocked right now and ran out of ideas (and time)

Anyone encountered this issue?

Through a random chain of events, I’m pretty sure I ended up with 2 of the acoustik CP-71W… if anyone is interested, I’d sell the other one.

It will be brand new, never opened.

also, did you connect the amp wire on the small harness from the Power Acoustik unit?

 

Those are weird rca cables….and it looks like one of the wires is cut? Are those video component cables?

I don’t think any wire were cut but I wasn’t here when the tech tried.

I don’t have the Bose I have the optional « high power hi-fi with subwoofer ». I don’t know about the amp wire. Good question.

Same setup as me then. You don't need the RCA's. You need to wire them direct harness to harness. If you don't have the amp wire connected, the amp doesn't know to turn on. You need to connect that amp connect wire on the little harness on the Power Acoustik unit to the harness you're plugging into the car.

While you're there, I'd recommend running the "brake" wire from the Power Acoustik unit to the ground wire in the other harness. You don't have to, but would save you some aggravation later down the road if you ever wanted to do any type of video in motion.

Connect that amp signal wire and the speaker wires (without using the RCA's) and let us know how you make out.

 

I wired up everything per the suggestions but the audio quality has not improved. I ordered another unit from Walmart to see if the unit is defective.

 

Finally finished belts/fluids and got her on the road. Couldn’t be happier (well, maybe with a Ferrari boot/background lol).

I picked up a mic off Amazon, positioned it on the steering column. Works great.

 

It might be, mine sounds really good.

 

I’ll add one “con” that I’ve experience so far with the PA deck - the contrast/brightness is not good for an open-top spider - especially with polarized sunglasses.

Completely functional, and I really just want it for the improved bluetooth connectivity, but I went for my first “day time drive” with it this weekend and the screen was basically invisible [emoji23] For $140 - I’ll take that as a compromise for sure - couldn’t care less - but worth noting.

I have mine on the steering column also and doesnt work well from there. I plan to move it to the top of the a pillar.

 

I ordered a unit from Walmart this morning. It is shipped already and will be at my house today. Pretty cool

 

This is a little concerning for me. Mine just arrived to replace the fold out unit I have now, but my main use is for Waze - so visibility is important. I may need to power it up on my bench and try it with my sunglasses.

 

I couldn’t figure out how to pop the pillar cover off. Also wasn’t sure how much ambient noise it would pick up (Spider). Will have to experiment a little.

 

We need a radio like this in europe for our european cars, so we can run carplay and bluetooth aswell, that be great.... normally us radios dont tend to work as well here as the frequencies are different from what i've seen (or am I mixing up USA and JDM now?) and yes, i do tend to listen to a radiochannel more than my own music if i were to ever listen to music in the F430 (havent used the stock radio yet once)

Yep, you can get a universal adapter from Walmart that works pretty well.

If you don’t want to deal with that octopus looking stuff. You can find the special adapter all over eBay, or Amazon. I just used this one cause it was there and I was ready to install. No issues with it though

Another question:

Are you bending the tabs on the mounting sleeve and installing that prior to pushing the radio in?

I am wondering about this myself. My factory antenna connector isn't long enough to reach the head unit. I looked all over Amazon and couldn't find an extension that the factory connector fits in.

 

I think this radio works in Europe.

the other half of your antenna plug is still inside your radio….
