Here is an updated photo of my 812GTS sitting at the dealership and before paint correction, PPF, and ceramic. Exterior color is Rosso Maranello, which I am thrilled with. When choosing colors, I was on a fence between Magma and Maranello. I was slightly concerned that Maranello would be a bit "dark" when not in the sun or decent lighting. This photo was taken in a storage area with terrible lighting and the color just pops. Also, the contrast between Maranello and the exterior carbon is great. This color red and the grey carbon work very well together - IMO. Once I take possession of the car I will post better photos - especially in the sun. Image Unavailable, Please Login
After a protracted 2 month wait at the Port in NJ (apparently there was part that they were waiting on for the Roll Hoop????) My car is arriving this week. I noticed on my invoice that it has Carbon Fiber side windows which is a little odd as I didn't order them. I have to say after I saw that @Thecadster had them I was a little bummed that I wasn't offered these! So, perhaps the team at Ferrari thought it was best to finish off all of the other carbon that I added to the car! Also thankfully my car was in the $424k list plus options. Having stated this when I specced the car in March 2022 the original Sticker was $403,566.
Congrats! Do you have the other exterior carbon bits? If yes, I think they say this behind the window area is now mandatory to also have in CF. Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat

So I have had my 812GTS for just over two weeks and have taken it out a few times. I wanted to report initial impressions and a few quirks. First, my initial impressions. In summary, wow! I have a 2021 F8 Tributo and have loved it since day one. I love the design of the car. I thought that the sound was fine based on my prior zero experience with Ferraris, and I loved the power and handling. Having now driven the 812, the sound is just crazy - really crazy. I can't imagine having as much fun in the car without the sound - will be interesting to see what Ferrari does for its future cars. Unfortunately, the sound of the F8 is not close to the 812GTS. I love driving the F8, but the 812 sound makes the drive even better. Both cars have great power, even with the weight of the 812GTS the power is beyond any sense of speed limits. The F8 is really nimble and feels like a go-cart to drive around corners, etc. The 812GTS can keep up with the F8, but the steering feels a bit lighter. In comparison with the F8, the 812 doors also definitely feel heavier - they close with a nice solid "thud". Finally, and I need to do a side by side comparison, but the 812GTS steering wheel "feels" a bit thicker. Both cars have the steering wheel with LEDs, but the 812 wheel just feels a bit thicker/heavier. This might be more of a false impression. In terms of quirks, there are an initial few. I have the race seats in my F8, with essentially no adjustments. In the 812GTS, I chose the comfort seats, which are perfect for a GT. However, in terms of a quirk, it is very difficult to make any seats adjustments with the door closed. There is very limited room between the edge of the seat and the door. Another associated quirk is that if you put on the heated seats, there is no indicator on the dash showing that the seat warmer is on. And, you can't tell from the feel of the button - being depressed or not - if the warmer is on. Finally, not a quirk but a recommendation for anyone considering the passenger display, which I believe came standard on my very late 2023 build. In my F8, I did not option the passenger display. As such, my wife would tell me to slow down, etc. I would comment that I was driving the speed limit (or very close) and that the car just felt "fast". She had no way of knowing my actual speed. During our first drive in the 812GTS, she noticed the passenger display button and asked what the button was for. I told her not to touch it as it was a passenger eject button. My comment got a good laugh followed by, "No really what is this button for". So, I told her to press it, which turns on the passenger display. BIG mistake. Now I have a passenger MONITOR - not just a display. Now she can monitor and precisely tell me how fast I am driving and I have no rebuttal. I can't say the display is not functioning properly in a new Ferrari. Moral of the story - do not option the passenger MONITOR - it is not a display. It allows the passenger to monitor your every move. Sometimes, passenger ignorance is bliss. More to follow, plus photos.
Thanks for the write-up. I just gave up my F8 Spider and already miss it. How does the 812 handle in the corners or when changing lanes quickly relative to your F8?
haha nice review fyi - on the driver display to the right of the tach, when you hit the heated seat, or the passenger - small icon appears in the corner with a red seat. As you push the button, it will show you the cycle through the three stage heating and finally off. It is not just “on/off”. It’s 3-2-1-off, 3 being warmest.
You will find, as good as the F8 is, the V12 is a truly magic engine. Remember, Enzo Ferrari said something like “I sell you an engine, and throw in the car for free” - this comment will stick with you when you think about the 812. Also worth considering a large engine that revs to 9,000 RPM, with all pistons moving up and down furiously, and is engineered to last quite a while before needing a rebuild- it’s quite remarkable! (I think its about 100,000 miles, but don’t quote me) Congratulations! Some unsolicited advice- take your time to build up using the power and learning the car- race mode is a lot of fun but can let you get into more trouble than you might imagine- Id recommend learning the car with sport mode. And dont be afraid to use the modes. If you are caught on slick roads/ it’s raining/ use wet mode. This goes for F8 as well. Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat
Thanks! This is great. Since the F8 and the 812 are virtually identical in terms of the controls, I have yet to read the owner's manual for some of the options on the 812 that I do not have on my F8 - like the heated seats, Apple Play, etc. Thanks again.
When I first bought my F8, I took two of the Corsa Pilota classes, in 2021/2022 when Ferrari was running the F8 and the 812. I only wanted to drive the F8 so that I could get as much track time as possible with that particular car. Unfortunately the way the instructors rotated the teams, we "had to" drive the 812 as well. After driving the F8 on the track, I anticipated issues with the 812. I was worried about the weight, the car being higher, etc. etc. in comparison to the F8. Well, I can tell you that the 812 was just a capable on the track as the F8 - at least in my hands. In fact, I had some lap times in the 812 that were faster in comparison with my times in the F8. I was blown away with the track capabilities of the F8 and just as pleased with the 812. I had a strong sense that the F8 would be amazing on the track. With regard to the 812, I thought it would feel more like a typical GT car - good power, acceleration, etc. but soft on the corners, etc. Not even close. Hence, why I jumped at the opportunity to buy one.
Cool! I am probably going to pull the trigger on an 812. Just trying to decide between a SF and GTS. The price difference between the two models is massive.
The F8 when I drove it was a neutered car- wonderfully fast but no aural drama whatsoever-the 458 although slower was more drama. The 812 both coupe and GTS does it all- sound, drama and the rear wheel steering and the very light and edgy steering wheel feel may make the car less GT and more sports car- I think Ferrari spotted it perfectly and unique in the car world. I have to agree. I was thinking of trading my F12 for a GTS, but even a lower spec car at my dealer with almost 4000 miles is $50k over sticker.
If you can swing it, I would highly recommend the GTS. With the top up on the GTS which would be similar to the SF , the sound is great. But with the top down - incredible. I have to say that I was quite surprised - especially coming from my F8, which I thought was very good in terms of the sound. I certainly do not want to overhype the car, but the first few times my son and I took the car out we were constantly giggling when we stepped on the gas and heard the engine - just like two young boys looking at a Playboy magazine for the first time - all giggles and big smiles.
