As we all know, the simplistic view is that 458 prices have been rising whereas 488 falling. When we talk of depreciation, we need to also consider purchase price of course. To this end, below are specific cars I am considering to purchase. Please help me decide. All with clean titles, none with warranty.

    2017 488 spider. Red/tan 14k miles $242k mid to highly optioned
    2013 458 spider. Black/beige 14k miles $230k mid optioned
    2013 458 Italia Red/black 6k miles $245k heavily optioned (300+k sticker)
    2010 458 Italia red/tan 6k miles $205k , lightly optioned

Q’s: Should the 2010 458 be avoided due to transmission issues (stated by multiple folks on here)? Should the 488 be avoided due to the added risk of turbo failure.

2013 458 Italia (if NA interests you, coupe) or 2017 488 (if spyder, turbo interests you).

Seriously, it all depends on what you're looking for - NA vs turbo power, spider open top vs berlinetta stiffness. All cars being used, and all widely available, I do not think there will be any noticeable difference in depreciation; if some cars will be more sought after they are already priced more.
Personally I prefer a 488 GTB, but again it's purely personal.

Some personal feelings: it just seems odd to spend the same money on a 2013 high production Italia that one would pay for a 2017 488 spider. Especially when the same 458s were selling at $25-$30k less a couple years ago. Even if the Italia has a little more spec. Not sure this will be recaptured at resale, whereas the spider opens the doors to a larger market. I also don’t want to “lose” money on replacing a turbo, or clutch, or transmission if probability of these is high on any of the options listed.

Sir, you are an idiot. No offense, but please read the replies to the same post you made on this forum.

I mean no offense but you regurgitate content. It is obvious I have moved on. Please read the dates.

    Please stop being a troll.

I just did. You got all defensive and said the 720s was still in the running. You then posted a wanted to buy post for a 720s. Now you are trying to decide between a 458 and 488. So which is it?

Thank you. I enjoy both, hence the dilemma.
Please ignore Mr. Kraft, and let me know. I don’t need the peanut gallery commenting.

Still haven’t answered the question. Did you abandoned the 720s and now focused in on the 458/488? It’s funny as I own both brands (as do many others on here) and have had all of the cars you are looking at and can give some good input. However if you are just trolling each board than why waste time?

Mclaren has been abandoned for weeks. Isn’t it obvious when you look at the date of the posts?

I know you are new, but calling another forum commenter an "idiot" can get you a ban.

I've never crowdsourced my buying decisions on cars. At the end of the day, its a personal decision. A car should never be bought for investment reasons but for personal tastes.

Scratching my head on that logic. You joined here on 3/17/24 and were deciding on your first supercar and were looking at 458 or 720s.

joined mclarenlife on 3/24/24 and narrowed options down to 2 different 720s.

posted on mclarenlife on 3/31/24 in the wanted to buy section.

posted today about choosing between a 458 vs 488.

It appears you are all over the place, which is perfectly fine. Most of us go thru that and are on the fence on what to buy. I simply asked you to clarify which car you were looking at as it helps people know if you are serious or just trolling.

There are a lot of new users on both forums that join, asked questions to troll and are never seen again.

Btw, for what it is worth both 720s and 488 are both great cars. Very different and pros/cons to each. I’d recommend to get some good seat time and make the decision yourself. 720s is futuristic and mind blowingly fast but doesn’t have the prestige and history of Ferrari. Also less problems with the 488 than a 720s. Just my .02 which may be of no value to you.

Honestly, newbies like this who go from 0-100 this quickly should go straight to perma-ban status.

I have the same general decision pending (F8 vs 720s….maybe), this mistake here is asking for a critique of particular cars before the brand/model decision is made. That is just asking people to waste their time and we appreciate Mr Kraft pointing that out.

May want to reread the post. Not sure that anyone hounded him for changing his mind. I even pointed out in my post above that most of us do that exact thing. Issue was joining on here and saying you can’t decide between multiple brands but ended up wanting by a Ferrari and at the same time joining another forum and saying the same thing but that you ended up wanting a mclaren. I simply asked which one it was so we could give advise and make sure it wasn’t a new user just trolling.(which happens a lot).
