I've been invited, through work, to a private day at Goodwood by the owner of the above car at which Stirling Moss will be taking guests for a spin. I am aware that this is a well know car with substantial history but would appreciate any further information to aid my appreciation. It sounds like a great day out if the weather holds!

    Thanks
    Steve.

Now this is how refuelling was done those days.

Anyone who recognizes one or more persons on the photograph?

    Vince308,

The photo was taken at the 1961 Tourist Trophy at Goodwood in GB.

2735GT was to win this race.

BTW Ferrari won this race from 1960 on 4 times in a row:

    1960 with 250GT SWB 2119GT, 1962 with 250 GTO 3505GT and

    1963 with 250 GTO 4399GT

The man at the right is indeed Stirling Moss- can you imagine nowadays

Michael Schumacher assisting in refuelling his car? Clearly visible is the flap

over the left exhaust pipes to prevent fire by spilled fuel.

sorry to kick a 5 year old thread, but I have a question.

Did 2735 GT ever have yellow roundels with the number 7 in them, besides the white or lightblue ones? It is for a handbuilt model I am having done.

Nice thread, thanks for bringing it back.

Pity that another piece of Ferrari history was substituted and the waters mudded a little more.

Where is the Drogo body today?

When #2735 was racing at Goodwood in 1961, it had light blue roundels behind the No 7, as did the Parkes car, #2417. In a way you are right about yellow roundels, because the following year, for the 1962 TT, #2735 was owned by Chris Kerrison and now painted silver. With race no 9, it had yellow roundels, though that did not do it much good, as the SWB spun off at Madgwick straight into the already crashed GTO of Surtees and the Aston Zagato of Clarke to make one of the more expensive pile ups in motoring history!! It was after this that #2735 was sent to Modena and given a Drogo re-body.

To pick up on earlier comments, when Moss was racing the car it was dark blue with white noseband and not black. At Le Mans, when she was entered by NART for Moss and Graham Hill to drive, she had race no 18. Following this at Siverstone, Brands and Nassau, she had nos 32, 97 and 4 respectively, all against white roundels.

She is presently at Classiche completing a 20 month total restoration and due to return to the roads in May.

Welcome to Ferrari Chat, and thank you for the detailed update.

Perhaps you can provide some pictures showing the refurbishment? We all love pictures! ;)

We'll look forward to hearing more from you.

Wow, can it really be the current owner of s/n 2735 that is answering my humble question? Well, that is ferrarichat.com! Thank you very much!

Luckily I came across the light blue roundels, so the model will be as accurate as reasonably possible.

His car was at Cromlix Hotel in Stirling last Wednesday on the Ecurie Ecosse tour. It was there with some other really nice cars.
