You must not be reading what I am posting and just responding with your pre-decided talking points. I said Lance is a mere distraction. And at the same time his seat with the team is a farce. Everyone knows why he's there so if that isn't a farce I don't know what is. If you disagree, so be it. You seem to have a value neutral POV on just about everything. No problem, I happen to have opinions on the good and bad about the sport. That's what makes me a fan. I call crap when I see it. Lance at AM F1 is crap. Lawrence is not doing the kid any favors. Hasn't Lance said he's been carrying an injury from a previous crash or something along those lines? Letting his son continue to struggle is not the sign of a good parent, it's the sign of a narcissist daddy.
Fair enough. Agree Eventually but it will be couched as a magnificent triumph. Lawrence is incapable of admitting mistakes.
Maybe you’re sensitive to pushback. No, I’m just frustrated that I presented a balanced argument, with a bit of heat, and you describe it as a witch-hunt. And I conceded it’s not up to the fans to call the shots. And I gave you the leeway to have your own opinion on the matter because that’s what makes the world go around. Not sure how I could be more deferential.
I guess I just don't see Lance as that "BAD". I mean certainly one could argue there are far worse drivers on the grid. Logan Sargent, who I happen to like and has shown glimpses of brilliance like qualifying in Vegas last year. I mean Danny Riccardo was once very good, but apparently that time has passed. He has been in a car that could compete for years and seems incapable of scoring points. Haas had Mazepin (a daddy driven recruit who Gunter got a very convenient excuse to fire with the Ukrainian war). Oh, and then there was Mick. I mean talk about trading on the family name and $$$. I mean why are we singling out Lance. Last I checked he has more points than 10 other drivers, some you would argue are superior clearly by this discussion. I am not saying he's the best driver AM could put in that seat, but he's not so bad that he's a disgrace either. At least in my opinion. Perhaps there's a little envy coloring our discussion here?
Well said !! Demonising someone you don't like is a well known tactic, isn't it ? If you listen to some, he crashes at every GP ! Talk about exageration here !!
I think the difference is that Logan, Daniel, and Mazepin all drove/drive the car without the 100% certainty that they will never lose the drive. Mazepin and Sargent both have wealthy families backing them, but even that does not guarantee them a seat - or at least it doesn't guarantee them keeping one. Lance is not the worst driver ever in F1. Far from it. Nobody can do F1 for 8 years and learn nothing. However I think it is pretty clear that he is not a driver deserving of a car in the top half of the grid. Who knows? Maybe it's the best car on the grid and Alonso is actually much slower than he used to be. Put Albon/Sainz/Other driver in the seat and maybe we'd see Alonso doing the Checo role while the other driver wins multiple championships. It has always been possible to buy a seat in F1. The difference with Stroll is that the it wasn't just the seat that was purchased - it's the whole team!
I think this is a very fair point. Alonso certainly wasn't tearing things up a Renault or even towards the end of his stint at McLaren. What could someone else do in that car? We won't find out unless Lawrence fires Lance or we get someone else testing the car.
Well K Mag certainly made an impressive case for moving to the top of this list in Miami. That has to be some sort of record for penalties. Total lack of composure for what should be a world class athlete.
I just looked it up. The record is actually five driving penalties in one race by Esteban Ocon in the 2023 Austrian GP!
K Mag took All of Kevin Magnussen's penalties during the Miami Grand Prix weekend 1. 10-second time penalty for leaving the track and gaining an advantage in the sprint in Lewis Hamilton battle. 2. 10-second time penalty for leaving the track and gaining an advantage in the sprint in Hamilton battle. 3. 10-second time penalty for leaving the track and gaining an advantage in the sprint in Hamilton battle. 4. Three penalty points for the three incidents above. 5. Five-second time penalty for leaving the track without a justifiable reason. 6. 10-second time penalty for the Logan Sargeant collision. 7. Two penalty points for the Sargeant collision. 8. Drive-through penalty converted to 20-second time penalty for entering the pits behind the safety car and not changing tyres No sprint race that weekend Ocon got so many penalties. But fire them both!
stroll and magnussen need to be fired. Ocon is not much better. From now on, I will write stroll and magnussen in lower case letters to show my disapproval.
Alpine is a hot mess, but Gasly is the bigger underperformer there IMO. the French team having to fire one or both French drivers due to French bureaucratic incompetence will be sadly amusing
It is very difficult to fire an employee in France. They may both keep their seats until they reach retirement age.
Alpine probably needs to focus first on developing a car worth driving before getting drivers worthy to drive it.
Yuki has turned it up a notch. Stroll is 11th in the standings, just ahead of Bearman who competed in but 1 GP(his first).
