Well, if you ever want to slow a project down, have a baby.

been somewhat slow going but still managing to get a few things done. Cleaned up and changed all hoses on the catch can thingy, new coolant couplings and clamps, reinstalled the starter and alternator. Found the main power wire to the starter pulled right out and into my hands. There’s an Anderson’s power connecter there (the powerpole 120) that was completely eaten by mice. Installed new, good to go. Hopefully that will solve my no crank when key turned issue.

I guess it really doesn't matter but that powerpole doesn't belong there. It should be a solid cable. The ground cable has a powerpole on a frame rail on the left side of the front bay, behind the radiator just inches from where it attaches to the chassis.

Hmmm, mine has one at this location as well. I’m pretty sure it is stock.

I don’t collect any Ferrari technical literature but I do have a car that has that same connector in the same place. I also have the same connector up by the battery. Not sure why anyone would go through the trouble to add one.

Mondial QV and 3.2 only. Not 308 or 328.

But you are still free to correct me if you can find Ferrari literature that indicates otherwise.

Just found it myself. Used very briefly in very early cars.

Mine is an 87. Not an early car. As posted above, there was another cable on Ebay with the same connection. Weird. Maybe some left over were installed on the later cars? Who knows. On to the next topic! Image Unavailable, Please Login

The SPC 328 figures for the positive and negative battery cables show the disconnect only in the negative battery cable, BUT, in the 328 SPC harness figure, there seems to be a symbol representing having a disconnect in both the negative battery cable and the positive battery cable 14:

Some updates. Got the intake back on, fuel distributor installed, more new hoses everywhere. The coolant nipple under the intake was pretty corroded. Looks like it is M12 x 1.25 which is odd. Figured it would be a pipe thread, but then again, there's no hex or anything to tighten it up. Weird. Anyhow, I bought an M12 x 1.25 barbed nipple, Teflon tapped it, thread sealer, and installed it. We'll see how that goes. Next I took the Charcoal canister out to clean it up and replace all the hoses. Whatever you do, don't put compressed air into the canister! It will explode and little charcoal granulates will be all over the place. (Ask me how i know). I found a direct replacement on Ebay shown below. PN: 0004442162 . I have the coolant reservoir tank out, its been hot tanked, cleaned inside with muriatic acid and BB's, stripped etc etc. I'll have that done today.

NOTE: Intake Installation: You MUST remove the studs on one of the heads. I chose the rear head since its a little more accessible. Makes sense that I had to use two pry bars to get it off. Glad I didn't damage anything. To get the studs off just double nut the stud. They come out pretty easily. At least mine did. To install, I shaved down two nuts so they were about half the thickness. This will allow you the clearance between the bottom of the nut and the intake flange, to install the studs with proper thread engagement, with the intake on.

Next is installing the AC compressor and brackets, Fuel lines, and Coils. Then, we'll see if it cranks. Tranny fork adjustment needs to be done as well. Getting there! Enjoy.

Nice progress! I know that nipple is available from the usual sources in stainless, but without hex flats, I like your solution. For the manifold I just leave the riser/intake nuts loose, then the risers will have some wiggle room to fit over the studs on the head. Then you tighten all the nuts on the manifold and risers. Kinda moot since you figured out a solution, just thinking out loud I guess. I'm impressed with how clean you get the aluminum parts. I cleaned mine with a solvent tank and called it good enough (gets the grease/dirt, but my parts still look kinda crappy). Thanks for sharing your progress. Cheers
