    Hi all,

I remember seeing some handy people here repairing the plastic undercover with fiberglass kits and resin and stuff... I managed to hit something under the car and put a big hole in my big plastic (rear) under tray.

What is the best thing I can use?

    Thank you

Not really versed in this, but when I repaired mine, looked into it a bit, just note the tray is not made of fiberglass, I'm not exactly sure what the material is but it is some kind of plastic, so I would stick with products designed for plastic repair.

I used a sheet of ABS plastic and JB Weld to effect repairs, worked very well

On my undertray, I can clearly see strains of fiber going through as the hole was ripped....Maybe different years had different materials used? Or is it just a core of fiber of some kind with plastic layered on it ?

I think this is exactly what it is, not straight plastic as that cracks too easily, it's just as you state, some kind of ABS but with material in it for reinforcement

You can't make it out too well in this pic, but I remember when I repaired the cracks, there was definitely something in the center

Yes, that's what mine looks like, I'll take a pic when I go back in the garage (installing headers now :) )

Likely a CFRP or which is common in the industry. That's carbon fiber reinforced plastic. There's also a glass fiber version. It's usually either injection molded or pressed.

Had to repair/replace some of the attachment tabs and cut replacement tabs from a carbon fiber panel and added threaded inserts. Attached with JB Weld and glass cloth to distribute the load over a larger surface. Should rough up attachment surfaces for good adhesion. Has held up great for 5 years and counting.
