I'm excited, if possible I'll keep some extra sticks there.

I don’t understand the stairs. I have tried and tried. They look like they just go to the ceiling. But I like them a lot!

I’ll get better pics. Floating steel staircase. Strategically anchored to ceiling and walls. But definitely not a traditional staircase.

Thanks! I do love that floating staircase. It is probably an optical illusion, but it looks like the ceiling joists - or flooring joists for the second floor go all across and to the very top of the staircase! Perhaps they will be removing some of that after it gets all shored up?!

Anyhow I have very much enjoyed following this project along and know you are ready to be done and moved in!!

The steel stairs are anchored strategically into the wall at certain points/ the entire staircase is supported by metal rods that are anchored into the ceiling and go all the way down all 3 flights of stairs.

    Pics from today:

This picture scares me. The platform is 6’6” off the floor. I’m 6’4”. To the left is the elevator door- my concern is some tall dude coming out the elevator and having their skull go into the corner of the landing. But it looks so cool floating like this that I don’t want to do anything below it. Just need to warn folks to watch their heads:

It’s really quite a statement piece. I cannot recall ever seeing anything quite like it in a residential setting. Extremely well done. Being 6’6” myself, I do wish there was maybe another 2” of clearance. :D

Perhaps a discrete rubber bumper could be applied? Or maybe some LED lighting along the edge? I suppose you could also put a sculpture under the corner to discretely direct traffic?

Speaking as a short guy, aren’t tall people used to double checking clearance? I mean, being 6 1/2 feet tall must present issues frequently! :)

If it was just a regular corner, I wouldn't be concerned. But that edge is so sharp- it could kill someone. I think I'll just have everyone sign a waiver before they enter the house. :)

Thought about a sculpture or a potted plant below so people walk around- will figure it out but for now- just gonna leave it. Its just so cool without anything there.

My architect and builder kept talking about this- but I never could figure it out till it was being installed. Its an impressive piece of engineering for sure.

I would place a piece of art (hanging from the stair or on the floor) or use a plant directly underneath the corner. Your head follows your feet most of the time. :D

That bit of sculpture deserves another bit of sculpture. How about placing a nice vintage motorcycle there for people to admire and walk around? Of course the hard part would be “convincing” your wife to sign off on this “art piece”

Brilliant idea. Automotive art under the staircase strategically placed…love the idea.
