More I see the more I think retro 365 GTB/4. Particularly what they tried to do at the back and front. Front just screams supra to me sadly.
First we were worried they were going to do away with the V12 altogether. Second we were worried it was going to be a PHEV. Then we were worried it was going be a mild hybrid with some sort of braking energy recovery. Also we were worried about a soft top for some reason. In the end Ferrari delivered the most important thing … an NA V12 like in the 812 Comp that’s available at a much cheaper price point that the Comp. And not for nothing it’s not like the Comp is a work of art. It’s a lot more contrived and over styled than the 12C. (We’re going to have to think of a different abbreviation cause McLaren) Think of it as an 812 mid-cycle refresh that just keeps a good thing going. Looks are subjective and I get it if it’s not love at first sight for many people … hell there’s a whole bunch of you that complained way harder when the 812 replaced the F12. But if that the most controversial thing about the car when they could have ruined so many things that matter a lot more is good reason to be grateful to the automotive gods. The Ferrari V12 keeps screaming at 9500 rpm paired to an improved transmission and in RWD that still wants to kill you and with a hard top spider available for an extra ray of sun, and all of it without jumping the shark on pricing vs the 812 … if that’s not good enough for you it may be a perspective recalibration time.
This is not about HP wars. A new model should be an evolution of the past models hardware. If Bugatti can get a 8L V16 road legal. Ferrari could have done more. Yet we get same performance, Bigger, Heavier but with better brakes. Just feels like they cut themselves short on this one.
Hear, hear @soulsea. We'll said, and good reminder. I may not love every detail, but who cares? Sooooo happy they're making this car.
Well said. I’ve seen enough tonight to say it’s an attractive car that will have a lot of road presence. I’m interested (coupe).
Definitely needs Painted shields would also like the option of having Body color on the spider roof and rear
Image Unavailable, Please Login Fair to say, but I must say our 812 GTS is like our FP Journe Mother of Pearl watch, but this new replacement is like black panther AP.
Some angles are genius, others are baffling. Ultimately my opinion doesn't matter, because I'm not in the target demographic. As always, they'll sell every one they make, and in 5-7 years people will be upset about the styling of the replacement. For me, this is the baffling part on the coupe. I think the spider pulls it off better, assuming that the winglet pieces can be ordered in body color.
I like almost everything about it...I do think round tail lights would have been chefs kiss. I love front and sides
Seeing new images I like it more. Manzoni must be praised for not playing it safe and taking risks. Remember when the F12 came out everyone hated it including the “bikini” comments. Now everyone is screaming Pinninfarina So predictable
At least for the black strip at the front, "Manzoni says he will allow owners to have it painted ‘over his dead body’" (Top Gear). Charming. May be a deal breaker for me.
