I guess they changed the form during the production. The ones I've seen were vetroresinas and it was a different form (don't know if they keep them in a folder or not). For sure the assembly number is on this page but once is enough.
The right page of your folder show a lot of details, what kind? The road test or anything else?

I wish I could go there one day...

I hope that they have copied all of these files electronically. All of this amazing information and documentation would be at risk otherwise.

The more I looked at this pictures, the more I find them so interesting. There are even the number punches behind on the shelves, it's amazing. Did you have special treatment due to an introduction into the factory or can all owners make an appointment like that?

I asked if I could examine mine, 50045, and two other cars, #35455 (the first 308 I rode in when I was 15 back in 1983) and 21277 (the first Ferrari I ever saw when I was 13). I think I just got lucky because the person I asked during lunch simply picked up his phone and called his assistant to have the records ready when we visited the Classiche department later that afternoon.

I was participating in the Corso Pilota Classiche drivers program. I'll post more on this later today. I went twice, this trip was 2022 and I returned last June 2023 for the same program.

So in 2022 I flew to Maranello to participate in the Corso Pilota Classiche program which includes a factory tour and a visit to Classiche. The program is two days and begins with a lunch before the factory and Classiche. In 2022 during the lunch we were joined by a person from Classiche and I simply asked if I could see these documents. He picked up his phone and made a call. When we arrived everything I asked for was available for me to examine. Those are the pictures I posted.

I did the program again last year and things were a little different. No one from Ferrari joined us for lunch at the hotel (Executive Spa Hotel). It was just the participants. We ate and got on a shuttle bus to the factory. When we were done with the factory tour we went to Classiche and they had some cool documents laid out for us to see. This time it was a completely different person and when I asked about two more cars (they were again two 308's I had encountered as a kid #35493 and #32509), I was told the docs for 90's and earlier are stored in a different building. No time to go get them by then, it was the end of the day and time to wrap things up. That makes some sense because as I stated earlier, a call was made about 3 hours prior to our arrival to Classiche in 2022 so someone had time to dig up what I asked for.

Frankly I think I just got pretty damn lucky in 2022. They didn't mind doing me a favor then and that most likely has everything to do with who you ask. Total chance and luck.

Just to gather the right information for each car, would you mine giving us the body number for 35455 if you had the chance seing it at the Classiche dpt? (21277 has/had its owner here on Fchat so we have it already).

I don't have any car with this body number, would you mind sharing its vin number as well?

Thank you both of you, I am very lucky that this thread attract attention again, collecting data is really a long-term job but it allows everyone to progress in understanding this period of production...

Sorry for the delay responding. The only place the word "telaiu" is used and followed by a number in the paperwork is on that little half sheet thing you see in the photos I posted. It is no where else in there and #35455 didn't have that piece of paper in the folder like mine did.

Have you seen these numbers on parts like this to always match up with the number stamped on the frame?

If that car still has its original parts then yes of course. I've seen cars with different numbers on the doors or front end parts which isn't a good sign. The cars are mocked up before paint and marked so they end up in the correct car. Even the seats have bags on them with the build number.

Talking about other brands, for a moment, I was into nothing but Mopars when I got my drivers license and had some pretty cool cars until I made the switch. Chrysler kept their seats bunched together beside the assembly line and it wasn't uncommon for the worker to grab the wrong pair - they all looked the same if it was a high back vinyl bucket. My AAR Cuda ended up with the wrong build sheet in the seat that was for another AAR. Not uncommon but if they marked them like the pic above that would never have happened.

Just to confirm that the last body number reset for the QV was not as the previous one which included an engine reset as well (from ZFFMA to ZFFUA) and try to understand the reason of that July reset.
I have US 53225 with engine number 596 but I haven't the confirmation of the type of the engine.

The QV's had a very different start and end to the year model production run for every year.

83 started in Jan 83 and ended in Dec 83. 84 Stared in Dec 83 and ended in July 84. 85 started in July 84 and ended in July 85

"MA" to "UA" reflected the addition of O2 sensor, frequency valve and from air pump to pulse air. The difference between 105A040 to 105E040

That is all for the US. At least when these cars were made very few if any other countries required auto manufacturers declare the model year of the car and incorporate it into the VIN. We also require a plate on the car stating month of manufacture. I see you are in France and I believe your cars had the standard EU VIN configuration with far less information.
