This thread has me daring to dream about a path to 2800lbs. I just weighed my QV engine lid, 51.5lb without the grills. The QV spoiler must be 5 or 6 lbs.
With any luck can get it down to 2700. A glass rear lid among other things is in the plan but I wont do the doors, I like steel doors with crash bars.

Aluminum radiator, no smog pumps, Euro GT4 Ansa exhaust, Compomotive 17" wheels. Otherwise all stock.
Hmmmm. I would trust corner scales more as even Harry’s Euro fiberglass car with half a tank wasn’t that light! Close enough though. Shedding a couple hundred pounds from these cars makes a huge difference
John, I was pretty shocked myself, but I know the scale is accurate. It was the scale at the dragstrip and they are pretty picky about the accuracy. They will eliminate cars from some classes for even being 5 lbs. underweight!
You GTB guys are all alike...Oh look at me! My car is at least 150lbs lighter and handles WAY better too! A bunch of dream crushers! But us GTS owners have the most important thing going for us....the engine sounds WAY better with no stupid roof in the way! @Newman - where are you planning to source a light weight deck lid? Wow - that is really light. And a US car to boot. Are the wheels much lighter than stock? Obviously you lose some by replacing the 16" wheels, but gain some back by going up in size.

I've been keeping track of the weight I've removed/added as I've changed out or removed components on my car (bumpers, wheels, exhaust, starter, battery, air pump, AC compressor, radiator, coilovers, etc.) and thus far I'm at a net reduction of over 200lbs not counting the spare wheel. Am looking forward to get the actual car weight when I have the corner weights checked during my upcoming alignment session.
My 77 has an aluminum rad, modern fans, no spare tire tub, no a/c components like it never came with it. No carpet, no radio, racing buckets, no trunk carpet, tubi, single distributor and some other big changes inside and out. If Dockboys weighs 2700+ then mine has to be in the 2600lb range assuming his is accurate.
I have no idea, but I would imagine the wheels probably weigh at least 5 lbs a piece less each than stock. Also the tires (225/45/17 front & 255/40/17 rear) have to weigh less than the stock balloon's. I would bet the 4 tires/wheels weigh 60 lbs or so less than stock.
What starter did you go with - is there a lot of weight to save there? Are you running a lithium battery? Antigravity makes very light lion batteries - I use them in all my cars/bikes.
The starter came from classiccarperformance.com and saves 9 lbs. The battery is indeed from Antigravity LiFePO4 (1 of three I have from them) and saves a whopping 24.4 over the lead acid one that came out of the car. Not so good to take weight off the nose of a 308, so I'm installing an electric AC compressor up front. The AC change reduces weight by 18lbs, btw.
Larger diameter wider tires typically weigh more than stock. Wheel weights can have a large variance based on material and design. The 16" wheel/tire combo I removed to go to the original spec 14" were 1lbs heavier, each. It's pretty easy to get actual weights from the manufactures specs and avoid conjecture. I seriously doubt your 60lb reduction estimate.
You are right, probably not 60. Do you know the weight of the stock tires? I know the Firestones I have are 23 lbs front, 24 lbs rear. I didn't weigh the Compomotives unmounted, but they "felt" a little lighter while handling them. Better yet, if you recorded the stock wheel/tire weight, let me know and I will weigh mine.
The wheels I am running are stock size reproductions of the optional Campagnolo 246 wheel (see my avatar photo), and with stock size Michelin XWX 205/70's mounted they weigh 43 lbs each, which happens to match the 14" stock star pattern spare wheel/tire I have. And checking my notes, the 16" stock star pattern wheels I had weighed 43 lbs front, 47 lbs rear, so the weight difference was 1lbs/wheel average, not each as I stated in my last post.
Which part number battery are you using? Where is the AC setup being sourced? And the follow-up, what are you planning to run for an alternator? my issue is I just don't have a place for a belt drive compressor and called it a weigh savings without really thinking about an electric option vs the just avoid driving on real hot days option. I'm not convinced it makes a lot of difference where you pull weight out, it changes suspension and braking tuning a bit but any thing in the 35-45% front is pretty workable I'd think?
yeah, big wheels and big brakes look great (to many) but they add weight and decrease acceleration. I saw an article were they bought a "tuned" nissan whatever that included brakes, wheels, exhaust, al the usual. Then they put it back to stock 1 piece at a time and and made a 1/4 ,mile pass. In almost every change the car went faster with the stock parts including switching from the big stick tires back to stock.....it just didn't have hp to need the bigger tires or the speed to need to bigger brakes. Lower sidewalls do make the steering feel more responsive but if you've ever looked at an F1 car, they don't run rubber-band tires and they seem to handle just fine. I know for sure the reason I put 18" wheels and big brakes on my car is because I wanted to see big brakes on my car, nothing to do with performance My wheels 18x8 wheels are 23.4 lbs, the 18x10 are 24lbs. Tires brands vary but 20-23lb 225/40-18 front, 26-28lbs 295/30-18 rear....so very close but not a weight reduction.
