Get a major rotator cuff surgery at any age. You'll wish you were dead.

I always believed it’s when you’re no longer aided/sponsored/supported by mommy, daddy or anyone else and must become fully responsible for your own future and life.
In my case, it happened at the age of 16.

OTOH, now in my sixties, I’m still trying hard to avoid growing up.

20 minutes of walking every day adds 10 years to your life - so says my cardiologist.

I always feel better after working out and I’m 65+

Age is just as much a mental state as it is a numerical reality.

When you're still chasing women, making risky investments, throwing yourself at life screaming "YOLO", bumping in the clubs, racing on the streets, and living like there's no tomorrow- you're young. When you lament over your insufficient 401k, start succession planning, have a Will, begin to honestly recognize risk in the mundane of daily life, and accept responsibility for your behavior, then you're getting old.

The young have time and energy, but no money.
The middle aged have energy and money, but no time.
The old have time and money, but no energy.

Around 50 I began to think, “I’m getting old.” Now at 77 I am older. My F430 helps the aging process.

Remember the line in the Bob Dylan song, "My Back Pages":

"I was so much older then,
    I'm, younger than that now."

I have been told you start to feel old once kids you don't know start addressing you by uncle/aunt instead of brother/sister. Not sure whether this is a thing or not in other cultures. I know Indian people (as in people from India, not indigenous Americans) call elderly people that they aren't related to by uncle/aunt out of respect but that's all I have.

I think around 70'ish... you are getting older... but not old. I feel the aches and pains more sure - but I enjoy life so much more now in my mid 50's than ever before. if you could stick to one age ... this is it!

I don't know about the rest of you but on my 65th birthday, I started aging backwards. I actually feel better, am stronger, healthier, than I have ever been.

So I'm still young at heart and growing younger everyday.

(My daughter says I'm delusional but those dancing elephants are real.)

I am glad we don’t have kids, because watching them grow older would make realize how old I am.

One of my professors once told me, when I get the urge to exercise I go and lie down until I get over it.
As a surgeon I noted people physically peak in their mid to late teens- they heal faster, think faster, workout harder and feel invincible.
It’s a downhill curve from there physically but mentally it’s the opposite - smarter and wiser- the curve peaking in the mid to late 50s.
It’s where those 2 lines intersect when as a whole person you are at your best.
For some it’s 40s , others 50s and others 60s. It’s the rare few who make it into their 70s or 80s and truly still feel younger and hopefully wiser.
In the end YOLO is still the one rule which can’t be broken. Live life to the fullest and remember time is not on your side, every second wasted is lost forever. That is why God created Ferraris…

When you turn 70 and you realize you have been living like a 35 year old .......wayyyy too long. You begin to wonder if you will be lucky enough to live to 80, and it hurts every single day.

Old is a state of mind. I would be considered a 'seasoned citizen', however I do pretty much everything I've always done: run a business, drive race cars, work out and love life.

There are people that are 'old' at 25.
