100% right. If you're extra picky like me, a theoretically universal like "mint" probably doesn't mean the same thing to me as many.
"The car was imported to the US in 2024 and now shows 51k kilometers (~32k miles). This F355 Challenge is offered on dealer consignment in Portland, Oregon, with a Ferrari warranty card and other manufacturer’s literature along with partial service records, import documents, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Oregon title." https://www.carfax.com/VehicleHistory/ar20/SLoN89jc8yCaRujO7-ZPCuiykenmX0EXuWbl-VmMIvLnkyJ6f3sFUWdL1l2FCCzufeZ1V7XOKt6chOCAyZZmAaMR74Ylg8bmmoGrSMM0 911R is located in Portland. First U.S title was issued in Portland on 2/28/24. This points to owner of car most likely in Norway and consigning to 911R. Rumor is someone in Norway had purchased the car.
If I were the owner I'd be extremely wary of allowing a dealer to re-title the car in their name like that if I was consigning a car
I can tell you this, i'm realistic, but i can tell you this, regarding the car a couple of weeks ago in Belgium even though i was told by the dealer it was original paint, i wasn't expecting it to be and i would have been ok with that, however when i got there and saw it with my own eyes and took my own paint readings i was stunned at how high they were and the clear indications of a repaint (that the seller should have known if he sells cars) In the Marseilles incident didn't exactly expect a car to burn down during the test drive lol https://www.instagram.com/reel/Civqnmhoz0M/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==
@Tarek307 Ugh that car was such a great spec. Were the carbon seats blu leather too? Must not have had one or both of the recalls done the dual pump cars were subject to I guess.
No the seats were actually black and needed some love...but seeing them melt in the fire was terrible. The car had the updated braided lines, from what i understand with the limited info i got after was that they guessed it was something electrical possibly..fire was fast & intense though as you see in that video!
Totally fair; those are really unfortunate examples and understandably build skepticism, I'm sure. Scary too.
Fun Fact: Wolf of Wall Street Countach was a rare white/white. Here’s a very interesting back story on the car for those interested. Perhaps it might change a few’s perception on white/white . Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
My understanding is if one is importing a car into the U.S, it must be titled upon arrival. Unless it’s a race car or used for an event with permission.
The car has had two owners in Norway, but was sold to Poland last year. That’s why the latest dealer invoice is from Poland.
The car was initially listed for sale in the summer of 2021 and did not find a new Norwegian owner until summer 2023. This owner sold it to Poland in the fall of 2023. This car sat unsold for years. Fun fact, the second Norwegian owner was the seller of the white 360 CS that is currently a Modificata project. Not sure if this thread has covered it but the original German license plate for the CH was HD-YD246.
Now looking at my records, this car was first brought up to me in April 2022, then again in late 2022. Sat longer than I expected. Car is moving around the globe like a hot potato. Poland have high VaT? Any idea how much he bought the car for?
Honestly, it looks a lot better on the Countach than an f355 (or testarossa for that matter). Not sure why, but probably due to the pillbox like windows on the Countach vs. the much larger greenhouse in the Ferraris.
I think the presentation from the outside works better on the Countach. It’s a wild looking car, so a wild looking interior is seemingly not too out of place. However, judging interior vs interior in isolation, I actually think the 355’s white interior looks alot better and more elegant. Especially with the pre-air bag wheel. I’d like to see some challenge wheels on it. Perhaps gold or white just so the car has a slightly wilder look.
Re: BaT Challenge. @johnk... your thoughts on this? https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1997-ferrari-f355-challenge-2/ Brought to my attention, some have doubts about the last 2 bidders. One has no history or comments. The other only has 911R bidding history. But check this… when the auction ends, the first person 911R reaches out to is the THIRD highest bidder, BHUFF1609. Huh… odd. Then they stumble quickly and reach out to the highest bidder, but never bothers with the second highest bidder. Highest bidder doesn’t make a comment afterwards either. The highest bidder did comment earlier about looking at a chance to get a “good deal,” but ends up doing the most aggressive bidding. Was bhuff1609 the only real bidder ?? Wouldn't be the first a regular BaT seller used shill accounts... The one with no history or comments isn't all that suspicious to me. Could've just created an account to bid on this one car. The one with only 911R bidding history however...
LOL exactly, Strangley they kept deleted my perfectly normal and legitimate questions, now I can't post anything without showing that BAT is reviewing my comments and then they just never post. One this morning was posted by @remingtonsr71 about his old challenge car, which I own, I said I would love to get in contact with him and had a few questions since I fully restored the car. They of course deleted that too, now I have no way of connecting with him Mind blown
My take was that you guys were beating a dead horse in there and somebody started to flag as unconstructive. I understand your intent, but intent doesn't always come across. More concise and less posts would have worked better in that setting as it's not a forum like here, but again, I know the intent wasn't bad. Take it for what it is.
Poland has 23% VAT according to Google plus the fact they are EU and Norway is not in the EU, the car would in theory incur an extra 10% EU tariff, making actual toll 33%. However, the tariff is not always imposed correctly. Further, the car could've been bought by a company and some VAT reclaimed upon export, I wouldn't know the specifics. The owner(s) in Norway were private parties and there was thus no opening to reclaim VAT. I don't know what it sold for by heart.
Are you saying you have trouble reaching Remington, the person you bought the car from? If so, I can get his contact info.
Yes, I have been trying to reach Remington for the past year based on documents I received with the car, but I haven't been successful. Would love to ask a few questions and chat a bit.
