Without permitting refueling during safety car then they interfere with fuel strategies because Ferrari was penalized with a supplementary and limited pit stop.
How is this fair ?

 

The officials at Spa didn't interfere at all with Ferrari fuel strategy.
They acted in full accordance with the rules as shown in post #71 by GuyIncognito.
Ferrari was obviously on a different strategy regardless of the Red Flag, which put them out of sync with the Porsches. It could have been the other way around.
Had it be no interruption, it's still doubtful if Ferrari would have won, IMO.
Of course, for you this a conspiracy against Ferrari; it's your way to explain every one of their failures.

 

crashes, mechanical issues, losing a 30sec or more lead because incidents this is part of racing but get a unintended gap is not part of racing, luck is always the thing every racing try to reduce it as a factor

 

It was bad luck, **** always happens with flags and safety cars, ask Lando Norris.

The worst part os that is that BOP is decided by speed, not by results, and the Ferraris were fast. So they don't get the points nor the BOP. Although this year seems that ACO has gone completely nuts and Le Mans always gets a special treatment, so who knows what's next.

Being ahead at 2/3 of an 6 hours race doesn't mean they would win.
The fuel and tyres strategy take a big part in the final outcome.
Although they were ahead, the Ferraris weren't in a good position after the Red Flag (just like the Lamborghini in GT3), because they had yet to pit, while the Porsches already did. But you chose to ignore that detail.
It didn't fail, after the restart both the Ferrari and the Lambo lost their lead.
It's a fair assumption to say that even without the Red Flag interruption, Porsche would have won.

 

You just don’t want to acknowledge that they had to pit one more time without fully refueling.
Absolute massive disadvantage in the end.

 

I applaud the WEC officials for doing the right thing and setting the clock back. The fans paid to see the 6 hours of Spa, not the 4 hours and 15 minutes of Spa.

Teams have to understand that racing incidents beyond their control can affect their strategy and therefore their ultimate position in the race. Sometime you win, sometime you lose.
That's racing !! It's not an exact science.
Had it been the other way around and Porsche losing the lead after a Red Flag, I can't imagine you complaining about unfair rule allowing Ferrari to win !! That, I really can't !!

This rule of no refuel is not right, it screwed over so many cars that have race to be where they are. Worst still it's double refuelling made it even more laughable, those that unlucky didn't refuel before that is double penalized for doing nothing wrong.

 

It was simply very bad luck for Ferrari, nothing more. It could've just as easily happened to Porsche.

I think without the red flag it would've been very close between Ferrari and Porsche, and I would've given the edge to Ferrari, but the red flag did come out, and the worst possible time for them. Nothing can or could've been done about that. The race is over.

You can say whatever you want but this refueling rule is just unfair.
Red flagged a race during 1h40 is just an extraordinary circumstance and I still don’t understand why some teams must be penalized by this and others not.
Hazard is a legit part of endurance racing.
Lottery isn’t.

 

No matter how the rules are written, there might always be someone who benefits and someone who suffers with every yellow flag, with every safety car and with every red flag, restart etc.

E.g., if refueling was allowed, the teams who had just refuel before would be at an disadvantage. The idea is that over the course of a season, these things will even out.

Have you considered buying a Porsche? Then you could cheer for both brands.

P.S.: Please don't blow yourself up, that would be cultural appropriation. Glueing yourself to the test track in Weissach seems to be a preferable alternative in terms of respecting the cultural heritage of disadvantaged minorities.

Bad luck happens but whole bunch of cars is not bad luck.

Two cars from the whole field not only got free pit stop but a whole minute of lead from a silly rule that penalize those unlucky even more. People cant see how terrible the rule is i don't know what else to say anymore. Guess unfair in WEC is celebrated is what it is.
