Incidentally, the egress thing isn't about age/flexibility for me. My garage is tight, so I can't safely open the door all the way. And because I'm not that tall and like to sit closer to the pedals than most people, it's nearly impossible to get out with the door partially open without sliding the seat back far enough to allow my knees to clear the steering wheel and my feet to fit between the door and the sill.

Funny enough, this wasn't an issue with my McLaren because the doors don't take up much width when opened fully. Who knew dihedral doors were so practical!

To me the LWB's in the RS are the worse seats ever. They are way too upright and push your head forward. I constantly kept trying to push my head back a little which in turn made my neck hurt which then turned into a headache. I don't know how anyone could track this car with a helmet on thus pushing your head even further forward. That's why there are several aftermarket companies that make brackets to rake the front of the seat back further to compensate for this. My neck aches just thinking about them. I specifically went with sofas (18 ways) for this very reason.

I agree! I'm always surprised that this doesn't seem to bother folks. I don't recline much, but I need a little more than 90°!

I just looked at a cayman GT4 yesterday that I might buy as a daily with the 18 way power comfort seats and I loved those seats! Seemed very livable for a daily for sure. I agree. Race seats in the F8, comfort in the Porsche- seems like a plan

You really believe the reason that folks sell their F8 is BECAUSE of the seats? Or could it be the vast majority are ordered not including the carbon seats and thus the vast majority for sale don’t have carbon seats?

No, I don’t think that’s a large reason… I’m just pointing out the math that the race seats sell faster and that leaves more % of sport seats for sale…. And I don’t think a higher percentage of cars were ordered/built with sport seats than race seats. I actually think it’s the opposite, which makes my ‘guess’ even more correct.

I took my car on the tail of the dragon a month ago. The way I was moving around in the cabin made me realize I needed the race seats. If you're cruising the comfort seats are just fine but if you're going to be in the twisties the race seats would be better since you're set in one position as opposed to moving around or having to use your leg to hold you in place if that makes sense.

In my case the side bolsters on the race seat would hold me in place better.

As a counterpoint (not wanting to put confusion to the discussion ;)), I track my car without the race seats and can cope with that (using my left foot on the dead pedal, since there is no clutch to take care of, and my hands on the steering wheel).

Another method to help maintain position in standard power seats is: 1) Move seat rearward some and add some recline, compared to usual driving position; 2) Buckle seatbelt and take out all slack; 3) Pull sharply on shoulder strap to lock belt; 4) While holding belt to keep it locked, power seat forward & return recline to desired position. Takes a bit of fiddling to get really snugged into the seat, but I've found this (along with using left foot on the "dead pedal") to be helpful, especially on track days. It even improves using left-foot braking if you're so inclined--but not anywhere close to using a 5- or 6-point harness.

I admit I prefer the Daytona seats as well (I still have the 458 spider).

The racing seats in the F8 just don’t fit me well. Ironically I have ‘sport’ seats in the Lambo (similar to F racing seats) and they fit like a glove.

But, none of these seats is worth a damn on a real track, you will get beat up badly and feel it the next day or so.

Being buckled in tightly with a six point harness makes all the difference in the world. Road Atlanta (Turn 12) is the ultimate test of a true racing seat.

That and a two part foam seat! It's like being part of the car.

Though I don't recommend pouring foam in your Ferraris. Makes an awful mess.
