Hello all I chanced upon this thread after looking at all the other sections of Fchat and it looks like it's right up my 'book hobby' street! I just came across this book which I haven't seen discussed here or anywhere before. Can anyone advise me if it's worth selling one of my kidneys for??! It looks great but I can't get hold of a copy in person to see before I purchase it. A Quiet Greatness Book - Japan's Most Astonishing JDM Collector Cars – A Quiet Greatness, LLC Many thanks, Malc
Welcome, I believe, IIRC, that is the book of the year of the IHMA November 2023 awards. Octane magazine editor in chief James Elliott told me he was very impressed by those tomes and he has reviewed a huge number of books.
Absolutely outstanding book for an incredible price. See my review at Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/p/CpBDl9jIRfe/?igsh=N3RhZThya3cwMjZh
If you have only a little interest in this subject I would recommend this book. It's really awesome. According to the author's facebook page a couple of weeks ago there were less than 50 copies available and there will be no English (!) reprint.
How is the text though? It looks like a great catalog of photos and cutaways, but does the text discuss the history and engineering aspects of the development of the vehicles?
For mid-June, a new Daytona book has been announced: Image Unavailable, Please Login Details are here: https://www.motors-mania.com/fr/tous-nos-produits/10968-ferrari-365-gtb4-etonnante-daytona.html?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=flashsdays
I've said it before and I'll say it again.... Ferrari books today are like Hollywood movies. 90% are either rubbish or just a remake of what has already been made beforehand.
IMHO the least collectable "collectable" of all. Opus had some merits but this one Took them 10 years to sell all those copies and I'm sure they are doing the Porter Press trick of storing some to bring out at a later date for an inflated price.
I just got a copy yesterday and spent the whole afternoon going through it. Every race covered individually, starting with motorbikes in 1961, and with at least one photo for each. I alos liked the coverage of his driving in historic events after his competition days were over, with a page devoted to the tribute provided him at the Amelia Island Concours a few years ago. Particularly recommended to Ferrari and Porsche fans, though he drove plenty of Ford Lotus Cortinas and Matra & BMW F2 cars, and we can't forget the Ford GTs and Mirages. I think that I should add that Evro is probably producing the best driver biographies that I've ever seen. I have the Lauda companion book to this one on order, and I have their books on Clark, Hobbs, Redman and Surtees, and they're all top-shelf. And there are others!

Hello, Here is a sample of what is inside. Many pictures, yes (some very rare or unseen), with a lot of information explaining why the Daytona has such an interesting story. Maybe the richest of all the berlinettas V12.
