What age do you stop being young?

A moment I remember was the 1st time a young guy offered up his seat to me. The specifics aren't important......it happened.

I never thought about age until I turned maybe 55, and I said 'WTH? I'm OLD!'

And then at age 60 you start calculating how much you have in your IRA's.

And at 64 you ask yourself - 'do I really need to work anymore?'

And now, at almost 66, it's 'I'm bored, I need to find something to do. Every day.'

 

I turn 55 in July and the good thing for me is there is no calculating to be done since I don’t have any IRAs or investments so I’ll be one of those guys that just dies at his desk in his office, I’m sure

I wouldn't know, I'm only 66. In my forties I rode over 100K touring miles between three BMW bikes I've had, and still have one. In my fifties I drove about 35K miles between three Ferraris, and still have a 360 manual. Sixties, and am on my second Raptor, and still have it.

Maybe when I get a motor coach.

I got my pilots license at 40, first marathon at 50. so....70? 60 this year

 

When you buy tickets to a venue or attraction and they automatically give you the senior discount.

 

When your doc schedules a regular colonoscopy

 

Next year, or an indeteriminate time I the future (at least until my health goes kaput). I can tell you from my experience that at 73 now, I still feel young and await the delivery of my new 296 GTB next month, having just received my new manual Lotus Emira. So, there's that. Forza.

 

Respectfully, Yat your age, You. Have. No. Idea.

 

I do not plan on stopping being young. This past winter my oldest grandson and I both turned 22, he for the first time and I for the fourth time. This shot is when I was 82 entering the Corkscrew and still trying for a perfect lap at Laguna Seca.

PS My grandkids are kidding me about losing my memory, just wait until Christmas when they find no eggs under the Christmas tree...

 

How did you do at T2?

 

I was supposed to race at Laguna Seca in 1961 when McNamara closed my base at NAS Oakland and the Navy shipped me off to turkey. 54 years later I finally got to spend 2 glorious hours on the track. All the intervening years I heard stories abut how hard the Corkscrew was, aim for the third oak tree etc. Well it turns out that with a right hand drive race car, the corkscrew is a piece of cake as you can see the right hand apex nicely. The hardest turn on the entire course is the double apex Turn 2. Don't think I ever quite made it right. Ah well - next time...

Forza - brother!!!

 

T2 is a bear. The corkscrew gets a lot of ink, but you're in and out before you know it. But, T9 can get interesting.

 

I wish I could remember where I heard this, but you're old when regrets take the place of dreams.

 

When you won't break the speed limit but enjoy driving even more.

 

Old is when you turn down the radio so you can see better while driving.

 

The day I went to pick up a pair of socks and thought the ground was moving away from me , 60. At 61 it feels the floor is further away

When my Daughters tell my grandchildren wait until you grow up and have kids of your own.
