This week Bonhams have listed a 1964 250GT Lusso #4497GT for Quail Lodge on August 16th and Broad Arrows a set of 12 lots for their Jet Centre sale on August 15th-16th, headlined so far by a 1972 Lambo Miura SV #5048 and 1998 RUF CTR2.Mecum have also announced their first 20 or so lots, lead by a 1969 Ford GT40 #1080 (that has been for sale for approx 12 months already) and a 1960 Scarab F1 car......

Long gone are the days when RM and Gooding fell over each other to tease lots in March, they haven't announced anything, YET. Gooding having only just finished their GEARED Online motorcycle sale cannot be too far away. Bring on the madness!

If anyone has anything to add, this is the place to post it

I am surprised that a perfectly decent LWB California is now worth a third of a SWB California. They are not that different!

My fave is probably the McLaren ELVA, a lot of car for $200k

Big difference between SWB and LWB Californias PLUS open and closed headlamps. Although 1217 GT is interesting and seems like it may be a good car, and now with its matching engine, that it did not have it for years is a bit of a story, plus non matching gearbox, missing numbers off the axle and non original disc brakes. 1795 GT is the first SWB California Spider, the Geneva Show car and Classiche Certified. RM Sotheby's state it has a competition spec engine. It does not. See here. Competizione engines have tipo 130 cams with 10 mmm lift. This car has standard cams with 9 mm lift. Velocity Stacks and 40 DCL Webers rather than 36 DCLs does not make it a comp. engine. Also has a MPH speedometer whereas the build sheets state KPH. Exhausts should be Abarth, not Ansa.

MM is a common abbreviation for Million because M in Roman Numerals is 1,000, so MM is one thousand thousands, or one million.

    1 K = One Thousand. A.k.a. One Grand.
    1 M = One Million.
At least in Banking in Switzerland.
    But what do I know.......

It's neat that the Swiss banking system is able to have their own little idiosyncrasies and operate entirely different than the rest of the financial world. ;)

MM is clear for me, so capital MM, but here is written small mm, and that is why I wonder. a little confusing for me not using those shortcuts. but I also see there is no capital K, only a small k. but why it says K ( k ) for 1000 and not M ( m ) ?

Good to know. I would have thought that SWBs were $16-18mm and LWBs $8-9mm, for covered, a $2-3mm discount for open headlights makes sense. Thanks for the in depth data!

No reason or difference for large or small K v k or M v m. That is just code for thousands or millions.....

So when reading a topic about auctions and estimates you didn’t think the “mm” meant measurements in millimeters? Shocking! :D

    Steven,

not to correct you, but some additional info:

if you look into the Foglio di Montaggio of 1795GT, you see:

    Osservazioni

Motore competizione con assi a cammes normali

Californias were delivered with 36, 40 and 42 Webers, also one example (2935GT) with Solex.

SWB Competizione Berlinettas had 40 and 46 Webers. At least, these were the only Carbs, that my Foglios show.

2015GT, 2383GT had Tipo 130 Cams, 40 Webers. As did 2561GT. 2987GT "just" is a normal California in Alloy.
Early SWB Californias had 40 Webers, than 42, 40 again and the last ones had 36.

Yep, the exhaust is a complete different topic. Ferrari Classiche used ANSA. As it was the only easily available. Now, you could buy an expensive Abarth Repro, if you want.
Early Californias had a two box system, later ones a three box system (I racall, as soon, as the IGM 2130 OM is stamped into the Frame)

and so on and so on with the differences of all the 106 different Californias...
