Alas, long awaited, arrival of my Tailor Made SF90 Spider comes long overdue…as I commonly spec white, it is in Bianco Mille Miglia, which is a brilliantly shimmering white with a customized Tricolore stripe. The interior material of the seats is in black and red Jeans Aunde. I’m enamored by the design and it has grown on me.
It joins my Speciale and so what are my first impressions? I
The interior tech design takes some getting used to, but the overall outlay is well done. Reversing in Edrive is odd but I instantly put it in Quali mode to hear and feel the full roar of the V8 engine. It is blisteringly fast and maintains a Ferrari feel when handling. The immense power allows tires to spin easily when cold. The car is just fast. Sound, well…it’s a bit meager.
So how does it compare to the Speciale? Completely different…I still feel the Speciale has near perfect power to weight ratio that can be fully extracted under control. It is more lithe and nimble and playful. And you cannot beat the NA V8 scream, especially with full system IPE headers back.
Both incredible automotive machineries by Ferrari.

Wow beautiful and thanks for sharing the Speciale comparison. Post some more interior photos if you get a chance.

I have the same setup. I find myself enjoying the Speciale more, but thinking about driving the SF90 Spider more. lol

    I totally agree with you!
It’s such an interesting dichotomy…. The Speciale is such a special driving experience. But the SF90S being so incredibly fast with the upgraded technology is mesmerizing.

I’m impressed with the tech. I know there’s been issues, but I like the dash, I love the look and being surrounded by so much CF. I picked every interior CF option, so much so that it creaks!

We have the Speciale and SF90 Spider too. I have exactly the same thoughts. I drove the Speciale for the first time in a while the other day and reminded myself why I loved that car so much from the very first time I drove it. It’s still the Ferrari I have driven the most and have so many special memories with it. It’s something of a pinnacle car for me and in some ways can never be matched. It was our first newly ordered Ferrari and we did atelier and a factory pick up with it. We did the atelier at the same time as a very good friend who also still has his and will never sell it. For him Pista, SF90 have come and gone but Speciale remains.

The car is so immediate, raw, yet delicate and precise in its responses. It’s so hard not to love the experience. The SF90 both AF coupe and standard spider, are intoxicating too. Such a different driving experience and hard to explain why I pick up the spider keys much more often than the Speciale. I love the modernity, drivetrain tech which delivers such a visceral experience in terms of gruff noise matched to shocking but still controllable pace. I love the fact it is many cars in one, especially the spider. The Speciale is more classically beautiful but somehow the SF90 has something of a Testarossa vibe (we have a F512M). It is clearly a grade above the 458/488/F8/296 positioning, is mid-engined and with a more sophisticated feel. Its looks are less classically beautiful but iconic and imposing. A real Ferrari but one very much borne of a new era. The SF90 spider is the best one car garage you can buy in my opinion.

Unfortunately you never get the full effect via fchat - on either of those colours. We often put some RM and/or Grigio Isabel into our cars. The SF90 spider has both - grey rear spoiler and front splitter with RM stripe! The main colour is blu brillante which is a slightly lighter version of blu eletrico. Looks great in the sun.

Took the SF90 Spider AF through a local mountain road, full of tight turns and not a lot of speed. Car was a champ. My first experience with a drive in it like that. I’ll be curious to take the speciale next time and compare the drives.

I’ll join you on the next SF90S run, as well as when you run the Speciale next!
Would be a great comparison of the two!
