I have a 21 with capristo valve controller. No issues.
Hi all, This is one very interesting discussion. Thx for all the posting. My ‘22 GTS has the full novitec system inc 100cel cats. I’ve had it for almost a year and, while I’ve enjoyed it like crazy (see and hear it in the links below), I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s a bit too much, just too loud, especially for basic daily driving. So im now contemplating two options: a) sell the 100cel and get 200cel cats (from Fabspeed since novitec does not build them). My question is: Is this difference REALLY noticeable? Like 50% quieter? Is the 200 definitely or just marginally quieter? If just marginal, forget it. b) keep the x pipe, muffler and the novitec valve opener, or get the Forza model (which works great on my Scud). I really like this option because what I don’t like is the GTS super muted sound when valves are closed. I’m happy with the sound once they open. So I think this option b could do it for me as my goal is to quiet things down by at least 50% from where I’m now with 100 cel cats thoughts and advice? https://photos.app.goo.gl/tkwuHGWk7YanUYY38 https://photos.app.goo.gl/JUjyHB5hcm7hyhDZ9
I don't know for sure. I imagine it'd be a bit more subdued than the 100s, but not 50%. The issue with not having the HFCs, is there is not much volume change from stock. The pitch is higher, but without changing cats on my pre-GPF 812SF, the X pipe seemed to make the car more quiet and less dramatic at lower rpms. I'm not sure what stock cats are rated at.
yes I initially went for the xpipe and muffler and the difference was pretty much 0. I learned from Dylan at Scuderia Parts in the UK that unless you add the sport cats in the 812s, it’s pretty much worthless. So I did and I’ve really enjoyed it, but now I feel it’s a bit too loud hence I’ve made up my mind about it. Are these it? https://capristoexhaust.com/product/ferrari-812gts-250-cell-sport-cat-downpipes-with-heat-blankets/ And do you know if they’ll work with the rest of the Novitec system? Finally I guess the issue would be to buy these and again ran into the same issue and feel it’s still too loud. Wish there was content out there on YouTube demonstrating the difference…
That’s them. I know Karl had 200s on his car, and there’s videos online of that one. Not comparison vids to 100 cell though. I’m curious about the 250s, and I am pretty sure they should fit the novitec x pipe.
found this one and the startup is pretty much identical to mine: Mmmm… wonder what Dylan @250boano has to say here.
I’m looking at the novitec for my 812. I want it as loud as possible so exhaust, x pipes and cell 100 cat replacements? What part number is the down pipes? The supplier I’m purchasing from is pushing the FI exhaust stating that it’s louder etc because they said novitec is catback only. What do you all think?
Are you in the US? Find another supplier. https://tagmotorsports.com/novitec-ferrari-812-sport-catalysts If you’re looking for as loud as possible, then go catless. I’ve heard a couple Novitec full exhaust (catless) setups and they are insanely loud on cold start. But they still sound amazing partial or WOT. I’ve run many of my previous cars catless, because I’ve typically wanted the car to sound louder. But my 812 SF would be unlivable to run catless.
They don’t know what they are talking about. Novitec is not exclusively catback only but you could do that if you only want that, though there is more they sell that makes it not fatback only.
Hey ya’ll.. I didn’t want to spend all the extra money on the novitec system, so I went with FI with 100 cell race pipes. What do you guys reccomend for the cheapest way to deal with the possible CEL situation?
There is no real way to “deal with” CEL due to emissions. There is no fix for it. The little devices/tune that clear up CELs dont actually do what you would think. All they do is repeatedly clear ECU error codes but the computer doesnt actually pass the internal emission related software tests built in. Getting CEL in these cars mean you can only enjoy the cars until its time for emission testing. When the car is brand new, you are good for a few years but as the car gets older and it needs OBDII based emission tests each year, you are pretty much screwed unless you completely reinstall the stock exhaust each year. Tuners/aftermarket companies/Novitec leave out these nice and pleasant details out. Nobody talks about this in V12 Novitec videos in youtube. To cheat the emission devices by means of writing software (i.e forcing PASS on emission tests in the car’s internal ECU software) is a pretty serious federal felony with guaranteed jail time. No sane person will actually “fix” your CEL.
How's the hunt going for your dream 812? Did you nail one down and finally become an owner?! Post pics
I think that is pretty well understood, no? I mean, I always knew that they merely clear the code, and don't effect the computer to read them as not faulty.
Its not really, many people think “CEL is fixed” with the OBDII device. Also, resetting the error codes continuously reset LTFT/STFT values where the factory default lambda values are used in open loop. This is not a good thing for the engine long terms at all as the car will never properly calibrate fuel trims to the atmospheric conditions and fuel octane.
