Is there a write up for this procedure? I have not done one yet and a friend asked me about how to do it. I searched and cannot find one. Thanks Rob
Rob, I thought there's one or two directions on that somewhere. Just recent. There's just got to be! No way we haven't cover that. Just no way!
Best one i know of is Birdman's http://www.birdmanferrari.com/service/coolant/coolant_bleed.htm and dran procedure is on the belt tutorial http://www.birdmanferrari.com/service/timing_belt/timing_belt_procedure.htm
In between steps 1 and 2 above should be: - Install one of Mr. Helm's petcock drains This will make future coolant changes easier and far less messy. Phil
I installed my own - what a difference it makes! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I will add my step-by-step instructions albeit with some trepidation as so many experts tread here. The bleeding at the radiator is an iterative process in my experience. I also did just add the Birdman Ez-bleed screw to my thermostat housing when I replaced my thermostat and water pump last month. My car is a 1978. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks to all! Peter, I had one now you have two! No Fair!! Chris, arent you onv acation, quit staring at the computer and go out and play!! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
There are a handful of posts discussing draining and refilling the radiator fluid. In my case, I'd also like to do a back flush of the system to remove the green coolant and put Dex Cool. Is here a way of making sure the green coolant on the cabin heating system is also flushed? There is always quite a bit of coolant there. I can not find a good place to cut a hose and install the Prestone T adapter for a back flush. Any suggestions? 1984 Mondial US model. Stock. Thanks in advance.
It may be best to remove the heater cores and hoses and flush them out separately if you're switching over coolant types. I'm sure the Dex Cool and green antifreeze are incompatible, so you really do need to remove any trace of it and that would mean taking those out. There are too many low spots in the hose runs where old antifreeze can remain. Don't they suggest in the instructions for those T's to splice them in near the heater core?
Do yourself a favor and buy an Airlift tool. Draining is easy... refilling any system (especially the 308 from what I understand) can be a real PITA. The Airlift makes it incredibly easy.
