2003 Modena owner. I have no tether on my gas cap. I assume it broke off under a previous owner. I have been looking for one and I am told it is simply no longer available.

Looking at the exploded diagrams on the far left it shows 2000 USA/CDN with no tether shown in the diagram for the gas cap.

Are there any 2003 owners out there with a tether? Am I on a snipe hunt?

@btshat thanks for the recommendation. Not sure if it is the same, but I have ordered one. @BDubbs...when I receive the 430 tether I will install and see if it works for the 360.

'03 360 here. No tether. Don't know if it had one but I don't miss it if it did.

My 2000 360 Modena does not have the tether. The parts manual suggests that the tether was introduced part way through the 360 production run.

My '01 Modena had a broken tether when I acquired the car in mid-2019. I replaced it with a new one in 2021, sourced I think from Ricambi (can't find the paperwork for this though.

The one on my 360 was also broken, but had a tiny piece of the end as attached to the car, and the collar partly still on the cap. From this I went to the usual sources whose replacements were either 'unavailable' or possible some Ferrari-esque price for a widely commercially available part.

Thankfully my OCD kicked in an found that the one for a VW Jetta or Audi A4 was a perfect fit for a whopping $9 from Amazon. The only thing the replacement didn't have was the tiny 'push pin' that secures it to the gas flap well, but mine was still intact or they can be had for pennies elsewhere.

During this little process, I found time to clean the well, remove and clean the attachment area, polish inside, find a new gas filler rubber flap (for a 911, but you just trim off the side part to replicate correct profile from earlier cars) polish the cap, repaint the 'Ferrari' letters and install this little tether. Have fun!

I have a 99 and am so happy I don't have a tether. When the gas station attendant (NJ) puts the cap on top of the pump instead of letting it fall on the paint, I am so grateful.

Dead thread I know but did the 430 tether fit the 360? Reason I ask is I’m trying to see if the VW tether will fit the 430!!! Newer Porsche seems too small and I feel the 430 cap is larger than what I remember from the 360. Thx!

So yes/no. The diameter of the 430 cap was smaller than the 360. HOWEVER, the lead is the same. You are able to disassemble the teather (it's not one piece) and assemble the 430 lead onto the 360 round to recreate the 360 teather

Just posting a thanks to @AHudson for posting the link. Original tether disintegrated into several bits. This one was a perfect fit.
