Well, I think he has a life outside of rally that he wants to enjoy (his kids are going to be little only once) and doesn’t have much left to prove in WRC. He can show up every once and then and remind everyone, lest they’ve forgotten, that he’s the best without any pressure. Also, it gives him the flexibility to try his hand, and develop his abilities, at other types of motor racing. How awesome would it be to have a slew of WRC titles, a Le Mans win, and perhaps a couple of Dakar titles. I think that’s a possibility he’s considering. One other thought, it’d be the ultimate mic drop if he skips a bunch of rallies and still winds up a champion at the and. That would make him a total legend. It may not be likely but definitely not impossible…
