https://www.privacyguides.org/en/desktop-browsers/#brave here's even more info about how to configure Brave browser. Lots of other good info there as well.
Only F-chat stops out the CPU. All other websites are normal. I would say it's not my computer but F-Chat.
I had a lot of trouble with Adblock Plus and Firefox (desktop, debian stable) only on fchat several months ago, until I switched to ublock origin for ad blocking. It works much better at ad blocking, to boot. It would be fine when you first clicked onto an fchat page, but after a few minutes the firefox process would be using extremely high memory and CPU, and very laggy/unresponsive, even if you did nothing after clicking to the page. If left too long without clicking to a new page, I would have to kill the firefox process as you could not regain control of it.
there have been many reports lately of users on ad blockers with problems, like accessing our new Classifieds.
I notice the same thing on my PC... its a company run computer - all the latest updates etc... F Chat always seems to be slow and the drives are always running... I am not on it as much as I used to be.
Try using Brave, it has a lot of useful extensions built in like ad blocking and script blocking It also has a built in task manager (like chrome and firefox) where you can see individual tab cpu and memory usage Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yeah. Fchat is definitely a CPU hog now. Can only run it when I'm active. Oh well. It was great while it lasted.
#1 it isn't a resource hog for subscribers. either pay 4 cents a day or see ads. #2 I see all ads just like non-subscribers and I have zero issues iPhone Safari, Desktop Safari, and Desktop Chrome. All of that said we're always looking for ways to improve performance, even if a non-subscriber.
