What a wonderfully entertaining race this LM24 proved to be - although I must confess to having slept through the night-time safety car four hours or so. Hugely impressed by Nicklas Nielson's final stint which secured the win against such considerable odds. Great progress after having won GTE Am there for AF Corse in the 2021 edition. Overall I found more tension, entertainment, drama and excitement in the 24 hours of Eurosport TV coverage (that we receive here on our small island) than I ever recall over several recent years of following Formula 1... Has anyone yet figured out whether, based on the number of minutes of rain, this was the wettest Le Mans ever? It seems that outside of the very early hours, it was raining every time I tuned in for an update. I know 1970 was very wet, but did this race compare with all the ones that came before?

Frankly I don’t know but since one month it is heavily raining in France. Can’t remember such weather épisode compared with past decades..
Here in Burgundy a few hundred kilometers south east of Le Mans I have had zero swims so far this year in my local lake. Normally, every year, I start may 15 and swim every late afternoon after work...argh...last year I was at Le Mans for Wednesday practice and swam several times in the pool at my rental house....so 2024...a horrible abnormal spring...
This coming week there will certainly be a big celebration with all the staff and the two cars will parade through Maranello like last year.
My deja vu kept blinking for some reason about the door. Now I remember……go to the 9 min mark for pure enjoyment….….
The 1995 win for the McLaren F1 GTR, a GT beating all the prototypes, was notoriously helped by rain - I'm not sure how it would compare in terms of time under rain though. This year was not permanently under rain, which made the strategic choices of tires rather challenging whenever it changed.
Indeed, I was there a few weeks ago for Roland Garros and very grateful that they finally put a roof over Court Suzanne Lenglen for the olympics, or my first grand slam experience would have been considerably worse.
By the way, if anyone is coming to São Paulo for the 6h race next month and would like some tips/suggestions, feel free to DM me here.
Well, that was fun. Amazing result for Ferrari to win back-to-back races but also a superb effort by Toyota to finish second while starting 23.
The short answer is yes, several times. The long answer is here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_24_Hours_of_Le_Mans_winners
I think the Joest NEWMAN 956 1984 and 1985 were the same chassis also. Great victory. I hope next year they change the colors for the 3rd victory in a row
Loved watching about all,of the Le Mans race. Now if Ferrari can get the GT3 296GT teams going a little better. Maybe it’s BoP on them?
