It was pure luck. Arriving just as someone was leaving it and there was no one directing traffic so I just snagged it.

Yup on 2V. 16" OEM wheels from the factory, factory quad exhaust, factory front spoiler. Not sure where the rear spoiler came from, but it predated the QV.

Nothing quite beats a terrain following let down to 200-1000' AGL on a rainy, nasty night at 540 knots/620 mph. Engage the TFR at altitude and the nose pitches down until the radar altimeter rings in at 5000' AGL. She then pitches down another 5° and continues down until starting to level off at the selected ground clearance. Completely blind except for the radar and TFR display.

So, a little more thrilling than a drive in a 308 GTS. Plus, I then got to drop practice bombs on one of the ship targets dragged into the shallows on the UK coastline. In the dark overwater at 200-400' AGL and 540 KGS.

This is my 1980 GTBi Nero/Nero US model #31371. I have owned the car since June 14,1985. It has over 81K miles and I did a complete refurbishing (2020-2023). Went for originality, so engine out long block rebuild, complete suspension rebuild, electrical system rebuild including Birdman308 fuse box, cooling system rebuilt (radiator, 328 fans, 328 water pump thermostat set to activate fans at 185 degrees, all new hoses better, all gauges, dials, lamps refurbished, The paint refinishing occurred in 1987 and the interior freshened in 2013 (seats and headliner). This is a virtually new 1980 GTBi but not faster; improved handling, new Michelin XWX 205/70 x 14 Campagnolos (48 pp of rebuild invoices). I wanted to stay analog, no PS, no PBs, 40lbs) clutch etc. Image Unavailable, Please Login
