New contender for single din carplay

It's a Walmart exclusive according to both the Walmart and PA websites. I'm surprised people haven't bought a few and sold them on eBay as this model radio is also popular with other car brands.

I'm actually surprised they don't have an agreement outside the states to sell it direct. The radio supports European and Asian radio based on your selection during setup.

I wouldn't say for some reason. Companies like Walmart and Costco make deals for these "exclusive" items to drive traffic to their store/website. This model happens to be one. When I have seen contracts for this kind of stuff, it usually allows for sale outside of the region which the "exclusive" access covers.

 

Corey and to others that installed this I have a few question. 1 how is the sound quality. 2 is it user friendly. 3 is it Bluetooth Telephone ready for when calls come in does it shut the stereo down so you can talk on the phone hands-free

 

I haven't installed mine yet, I have been using a bench supply with the radio. I'm waiting for a window switch repair kit (hope it is stronger than the original switch tabs) before I pull my radio out.

 

Lorenzo - yes to all of these. Sounds better than the stock Becker unit but the stock speaker and amp setup will always be the limiting factor. I primarily use CarPlay and have taken a call with the mic that’s built into the unit with no issues. As far as being user friendly, I think so, but again, mostly have CarPlay up on the screen. I’m very pleased with it.

 

This is awesome. I can’t wait to get my 430 back from some repair work so I can put this in.

That’s why I made the splash screens with the silhouette of the model as many OEMs are doing with their infotainment systems. I tried the all black with white Ferrari logo, but it looks weird with such a large screen even with a smaller logo (I tried different sizes).

That's nice to. It's nice to have options with these. I'm very tempted to get one

 

I feel like the wallpaper doesn’t really matter since we are in CarPlay most of the time, so it’s rarely visible. Don’t think there’s a way to change the CarPlay wallpaper without jailbreaking.

Is anyone aware of any of the S2000 people trying a non Walmart exclusive PA unit that worked, for our friends abroad?

OK, I have to admit it. I tried the white 430 one I made... It does look better, but I still like the faded wallpaper in red which is like the red theme of the Becker's background.

Now all that is left is to figure out what the connector for the ISO male plug is. I have a plug I got from Amazon, but It's missing the reverse wire so I have to add a single wire to put the reverse camera in.

I de-pinned one so I could see what the connector is... anyone have an idea on a part number I could buy from mouser or another electronics supplier?

Your background seems a little busy. Have you tried making it more translucent so it doesn't make it hard to see the central "buttons"?

 

How are you securing the radio? There are times I'm a little lead-footed on the accelerator and the radio flies out of the console. I tried putting double sided mounting tape meant for outdoor plaques but it didn't work well. Wish Scuderia Audio could whip something up that's easily reversible.

 

You have to take the radio out of the sleeve. Put the sleeve in the slot and bend the tabs to hold it in place. Once it is secure, slide the radio in, and it will lock in place
