I've seen several 458s and 488s with wrapped roofs; almost always in black. Personally I like that look. Has anyone here done done a roof wrap on an F430?? just wondering what it would look like and if you're still happy with your decision to do that?? Thanks. photo for reference... I’ve seen some but the lines don’t lend themselves well to having a clean cut off point for the vinyl. You end up forcing shapes that don't really flow. I wanted to do the frame of my windshield ala S2000 but a quick trial with some scrap vinyl had me thinking otherwise. Agree with above. One would need to revise the rear window curve and have it flow up in a sharper angle towards the deck lid, as per my attached image, but that could create a jarring line across the C pillar. Ultimately I don't think that it works.
Now, this is the advantage of GT7's Livery Editor. You can experiment with things like this and get a pretty much 100% accurate idea of what it will look like, as you can manipulate the decals to follow the lines, creases and curves perfectly. Even as far as fudging certain aspects to fool they eye. I spent an afternoon a while back messing around with this, and the conclusion I came to is, it looks sh*t no matter what you try. So the bottom line is don't do it, it looks bloody awful !
This should give you a pretty clear idea of what it will look like. I loaded up GT7 and went into the Livery Editor. I did two versions. The first takes the rear on longer route to the back edge of the rear screen. The tricky bit is trying to follow the natural line of the rear bodywork. The second follows a more natural upward curve to approx half way along the rear screen. The bit that really jars is the "A" Pillar. If you use the natural cut line - as per the above renders - where the "A" Pilar meats the top of the front Wing (Fender), it just terrible and natural. So to make it look it more flowing you have to bring the line down onto the fender. However it is not a natural line to follow due to the arc of the Front Hood. That leaves you having to fudge it slightly to fool the eye. The overall effect sort of works, however the F430 really does not lend itself to this style due tot he lack of natural cut lines, which are present on the 458 / 488. Hi Rizzo, I have been trying to find out how to contact you, so sorry for posting here. I am in NZ and need some billet dash vents for my F430. I have the dreaded dash shrinkage going on. My email is [email protected] if you can help. Thanks Graham
