Fixing convertible top bar / elastic?

    that sounds like a solid reason. As is is mounted by a rivet at one end and screw at the other it is easy to tighten it slightly up.

    however o wonder how the strap can be so stretched in time. There is really no tention on it when hood closed. Can’t see how it when hood is open.

    For anyone that has done the elastics replacement, I am in the middle of doing mine and am noticing a big difference between the elastic lengths @EastMemphis noted and mine. For the headliner bands, I am finding from the plastic bar to the front of the top around 16" fully stretched - but the tutorial notes approx 20". Similar for the segment from the rivet end to the bar.

    Anyone else have measurements to confirm what I am seeing before I sew the new straps in? Maybe the front one needs more slack so the back one can pull the bar back successfully?

    I did this fix about 2 yrs ago and the bar stopped positioning properly recently - I think my elastic was too weak - so I am using something stronger this time.
