Pulled out my O2 Sensor today on my 2004 360 and I am wondering about the color of the exhaust gases. I use Ethanol Free 87 octane with octane booster. Car is running great, but just wanted some opinions! Thanks

I little more orange than is normal - but it could be caused by fuel injection cleaner etc
    Lets see what others say

Your use of octane booster causes that color.

Cooked on manganese - it's from the metal in your octane booster.

You'd be better off just running 91+ octane gas from Chevron, etc.

Google "MMT Contamination O2 sensor" and select the image tab in the results - you'll see you are in good company :)

The real truth about octane boosters is that something like "104 octane booster" only actually raises the actual octane by about .50 so that would take your 87 octane to 87.5 octane, not really worth it. Just run higher octane as suggested here.

I have seen a similar orange color (on spark plugs and o2 sensors) after using unleaded, ethanol-free race fuel (VP).

No other negative effects, car ran great with that fuel.
