Spent some time watching these guys coming & going in Vancouver. Incredible amount of Seaplanes traffic here. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Saw a heap of Beavers when Neralee and I did the Inside Passage cruise years ago I think other than trains and aircraft there's not a lot of ways to get around quickly in that part of the world Kenny
Pfft. You should see the Maldives seaplane departures. Looks like car traffic, there are so many of them.
That's true John, 30 min flight to Victoria v a 3 1/2 hour drive. I think $99 was the price. In the top 10 seaplane ports in the world IIRC. Vancouver also has the highest Air Traffic control centre in the world, at almost 150m above sea level
Forgot to mention this: a couple of days ago I watched a RAAF wedgetail (I think) go over the farm refuelling off the boom of a tanker. Not too high and I have never seen this in the flesh before.
That would be great to see, the wedgetail is about the size of a 737 and it’s manoeuvre that you expect to done at a high altitude.
We have domestic stuff going over all day at 30k feet. These guys would not have been more than 5000 - you could nearly read the markings.
We had fighter jets (FA18?) doing their scoot along the beach yesterday afternoon - anyone at the lookout on Pt Perry would have been looking in the pilots' eyes!
