If its a real Daytona engine they didn't mangle to mount to the box then thats a big chunk of the price.

It's 2 cam so 365 GTC? I have no idea what those engines sell for these days. $150k? I think it's only mildly modified to fit the 308...mostly it's the trans case that is cut to fit the engine. Another v12 swap, same engine, changed hands last year or 2 years ago, I heard mid 100s.

In the manual Goldsmith wrote he says onle the 2 cam 330 or 365 engine will work because the head is narrow enough to fit past the right shock mount and that 400 engines are right out. So that is what he used and 2 copies were made, all 365. But a 400i was built in England, I'm not sure what they did differently to make it work. My 400i/TR I did quite different by moving the engine forward 2" (and down 3") so I had no issue with the head hitting the shock.

Anyway, big asking price on a 308, but it looks like a nice car so maybe they'll get it

I had to google it..... the 400i V12 conversion sold for £54,000 in May 2017 (around $70k) which seems low but I don't know what a 1985 GTS was going for in 2017.

But to Paul's point that is a 400i engine not a 365......$10k vs $150k or so. I read that particular car spent a lot of its life sitting for sale here or there.

Both seller and buyer have less than six months on BaT. As a data point, that's always odd.

Nothing scammy. Could be a dealer to dealer trade if we see this car in the market again.

This is another of several "1985" Euro 308 QVs on BaT that are actually 1984 production cars... as far as I know. The car listed above is sn 52073, which should make it a May or early June 1984 production. My own 1984 308 GTS QV is 52703, produced late June 1984 - multiple sources over the years have said that makes it produced in the last week of 1984 model year production, coming down the line between two 288 GTOs. The listed 52073 is missing the 1985 changes, like the tenax buttons holding the fuse box panel in place (my car has those).

Here's another new 308 listing - another "1985" Euro GTS QV, this one is local to me in Calgary: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1985-ferrari-308-gts-quattrovalvole-42/ It's sn 51161, which would make it around a February 1984 built car, but it's again listed as a 1985 model year. The mis-registration probably occurred when it was first imported to the US in 1985, but still - am I incorrect about the model years? By these two and one or two more on BaT, my 52703 should be registered as a 1985!?!

This latest one in Calgary, red/black, is pretty clean, and has had a lot spent on it in the last 5 years to get it up to snuff.

My '84 is 50761 and the door tag says march 1984. Perhaps they did the 308 production early in the year and other stuff later or some cars were mostly built and sat waiting on an order so were finished late? Just guesses.

As someone who just bought a 308 and imported it, I can say that it is an added headache for sure.

Good results but the last two make no sense. An '84 US car with KMH goes for $100k and an '85 Euro spec car goes for less at $91k? Neither seemed to be hurt by the Canada tag, but can't figure out why the hammer price almost seems backwards on these.

Being that it’s at Beverly Hills Car Club, I’m assuming it has to be a project of some kind. The pics and description look great but I’ve never seen them list anything that wasn’t needing some kind of major work. I wonder if it’s been sitting for a long time. Beautiful car though.

Their cars are usually pretty tattered, but cosmetically that one looks very clean (though I've never seen holes in a deep spoiler like that). Seems like quite a soft asking price if there are no major issues (but there usually are, aren't they?).
