550 headlight upgrade

Probably, but I was disappointed with the Philips LEDs, because they had insufficient clocking adjustment. Supposedly for best lighting and least glare the housing for the LEDs should be vertical with the LEDs on either side of the housing pointing at 3 & 9. Best I could get with the Philips were 2 & 8.

 

Correct, thats why I am going to try the GTR as they have a clocking adjustment for 3&9 which hopefully will work

 

This was likely mentioned before but to stress US and Euro spec use very different main housing bulb assemblies based on a collection of goofy US laws. The slight housing/wiring difference may account for some of the variability.

 

This is all why I am waiting to do the projector swap v bulb swap. The housing and lens have a significant impact in the resulting light output based on previous light mods I have done.

 

I just ordered the GTR bulbs today will try them out see if they fit and will report back

I'm only writing about ROW LHD lights. Though RHD should be same and I think US model is also same unlike many older models. At least every owners manual I have seen only mention same Hx bulbs.

headlight fog light - no such thing, parking light and turn signal are other bulbs in them and they can both be replaced with LEDs
Lower Valance fog light-H1 with less space in housing than in headlight. Also wiring goes through cover into connector making things little more difficult to improve it at same time. Will probably newer need them in actual use so best available normal halogens in and forget them. Another reason not to install LEDs is local yearly inspection. Fogs are pain to get to and most inspectors hate LEDs and they aren't strictly legal to use. Other lights are lesser evil to change back to halogen if they want them changed to pass.

Philips 9100 H1 grounding problem can possibly be just batch I got. They can't be that stupid not to notice such basic mistake and fix it. I used Dremel to clean up enough surface to make proper contact.

 

Any updates on the Morimoto project? My headlights are awful as is our deer population.
