How do I get a car?

Sounds like you should check in with your dealer on an allocation and deposit for that allocation. You have buying history with them from what you're sharing, so best route is to chat with them on what allocations look like, and where you stand.

 

Have you traded your cars back or consigned them with this dealer?
If so I'm not sure why they're not taking care of you given your history.
If not it would explain why they're not in a rush to look after you.
Also are you looking for a coupe or spider?
Coupe should be fairly easy to secure, spider much longer wait because that's the one most people want.

 

Well your thread title is confusing- If you already have "3 builds ordered" then you obviously know how to "get a car"

Sounds to me that your local dealer has a lot of customers and they can afford to be super selective. You are probably based in a large state in a very wealthy area (California? Florida?). It's common to be treated like **** by some of these dealerships. They probably have a lot of other customers with order history going back many years and they will go through them first before they bother with you. Sorry man but you either have to play the game OR ... shop around ... call other dealerships out of state.

I like how I was on the money about the state You got to have patience my friend.
My experience with the 12Cilindri was quite different. I called the dealership on a Saturday morning, spoke to a new sales guy I never met before, told him I am interested in the car, he gave me the song and dance about the order book being full, I told him about my purchase history (different dealer because I moved recently), he told me he will call me back and an hour later they told me I can get a car
I paid the deposit a week later and now I keep looking at an app waiting for a VIN number to appear

 

It's really not about the size of the state alone. Ferrari SLC is the smallest in the country and I happen to know that they have an incredibly long waiting list and it's practically impossible to get to cars like an 812 Comp because of how few they get. Basically one of their top customers has to die before someone else can get there. I'm not even joking, there are people literally waiting for others to pass to get their spot in line.

One can only have one assigned dealer they buy new from, and they can choose any dealer in the country they want ... the hard part, even for non special cars, is trying to figure out the sweet spot between the size off the dealership and the customer base. Meaning that you might actually be better off in a big dealership because despite the size of the state or local population they get enough cars to get to you sooner, or you might be better off in a medium size dealership, there's no set formula. But at the end of the day all of this until you get to the super limited cars is really at the discretion of the dealer. If they like you and value you they prioritize you no matter the size of the state or the dealership, if they don't then you're at the back of the line and they'll get to you if and when they get to you.

My guess here is that the car just got announced and they have a bunch of top tier long time 'buy everything that comes out' customers that have taken the early allocations. This is the most likely of scenarios and it's completely normal. I certainly wouldn't be surprised or offended if I was wasn't offered an early allocation, and I certainly wouldn't feel entitled to one. I'm a decent customer but nowhere near the top of my dealer's customer list.

Unless you've done something to upset them that you're not sharing just wait a little bit and your turn will come up. Probably sooner than you think on the coupe cause my understanding is that more people than usual are passing on it. As we move forward, now that the market has normalized and there's no money to be made on most of these cars or even drive them for free without loss, you'd be amazed how many people are dropping out of orders and passing on allocations.

 

Ask you dealer to put you on the waiting list. Ferrari is trickling out the allocations to dealers just like they did for the FUV.

Indeed. There is always some more wealthy and higher up the list than you. They buy every car and always get an allocation. I don't think there would be any issue getting a 12C if you have an average buying, service or racing history.

One thing that I was told by my dealer is that Ferrari is not only looking at "cars you ordered", but how long you had them in the past. I was told more chances with owning 3 different V12 over the period of 10 years, than having 5 Ferraris at the same time.

Also, from what I read at the beginning, sounds like you have placed deposits, but not picked the cars yet. I was also told delivered cars are better and having pending order may prevent me from getting an allocation.

Also, some dealerships are just more competitive. I am lucky to have relationship with a dealer that always finds an allocation, but I also know some other branches where you can dream of it, unless you're at the very top.

For context: I got an allocation, and I do own a few Ferraris at once, but I am not aware of this being factory requirement.

 

I just got my slot placed into the computer for Spider. Haven't competed spec or factory allocation.
So they are definitely opening the lists of who's order goes in first - dealer says their demo is due this October.

I met my local dealer/sales manager about 2-3 months ago. He told me I had to purchase a CPO vehicle before being considered for an allocation. And it would be best if you were local. I was looking around for an F8, 296, or 812. I was also talking to a Florida dealer who offered me a brand new 296 Gtb. I almost put a 5000 dep to secure it, and then I called my dealer to see if this was a good deal. He then told me that there could be a cancellation of a 296 with precisely the right specs I was looking for. So, I bought a brand new 296 in late June. I guess I am one of those lucky ones! I kind of became friends with the dealer, and he put me on an allocation for two cars.
12 Cilindri coupe and a spider. So, hopefully, I’ll get my coupe in less than two years, and a year later, my spider will arrive. Sorry about the long story, but I guess sometimes you need some luck. I must also say our local dealer is incredible. Their customer service is one of the best. They organize quite a few local events/dinners. They even helped me become a member of a local club. I am in Nashville, by the way.

Just wait. Let the initial hype die down and there will be plenty of available cars. Look at 296- once impossible to get- now just walk in and get one. It's a game. Be patient, allocations will magically be available.

 

I was able to get an allocation for a coupe. No real Ferrari history.
