Ok gang, you have spoken and chosen Saturday, March 27th in our previous poll. Meanwhile I have received some more great information from the Buffalo Grove Indoor Karting track (http://www.chicagoindoorracing.com/) and so here is the deal: We need a minimum of 8 drivers. Price per person is $ 80. Here is what you get for that: 1) A Pre-Race Drivers Meeting featuring private detailed instruction on the track, the karts, and safety information. 2) Three heat races, starting from the front section of the grid, one from the middle section, & one from the rear section. Points will be awarded based on finishing position in each heat. 3) Top 10 Drivers will progress to the Final Championship Race, with grid order being determined by the points scored during the heats. 4) A $ 15 food and drink coupon for the bar and a $ 5 coupon for the arcade games. 5) Frank (red81308) will provide trophies for the top 3. Driver's Meeting is at 2pm, races will start at 3pm lasting about an hour, thereafter we will have a "podium ceremony" and time to eat and drink. So: Please tell me here as soon as possible, whether I can put your name down for it. Since I have to pay in advance for this event, I'd appreciate it, if you'd actually show up for it... So who's in? PS: I also have a PDF file, which I can send to folks who contact me via email.
I'll be there, have sent some e-mails to friends and other car nuts... I'll let you know if any of them want to attend!
$25 for a yearly license, $15 for a monthly are regular rates for people off the street... does our $80 fee cover any of this, or is it simply for a one day private group? I might come back with some buddies later on, so to know if I had a license already might be a help to me. Thanks, RocketBoy
Hi Andreas, You can count me in for the fun..... If it's nice weather that day, i'll drive the 328 TUBI there... Tod
Glad you asked: The event license is included in the 80 bucks. If you like to return to the place, you can tell them that while there and they upgrade your license for an additional $ 15 to the annual license. So those 80 bucks are really a great deal: 3 races for 25, plus event license for 10, food for 15 and games for 10 and (if you're good) a fourth race. So a potential $ 135 value for $ 80.
I'm in. If allowed I'd also like to bring my friend Phil, Viper Owner (boo). Let me know if that's OK. -DN

Update: I have paid for the minimum, which is 8 drivers. So the event is secured. However we need to confirm the final number of drivers 24 hours ahead of time so they can organize the carts for the individual races etc. Also I need everybody's real name. If you don't want to post it here, please send me a PM or email. Finally, we need to wear overalls (no Nomex requirement) and helmets. They provide this, but if you want to bring your own, that's ok too. Needless to say what helmet I'll be wearing...
Don Norton and Phil Spiewak. What's this overall thing? Like some Oshkosh B'Gosh or something? Does the "they provide this" apply to these overalls as well as helmets?
Probably bad wording on my part: What I meant was that we have to wear some jumpsuits (coverall) as it is custom in go kart places. They provide those and the helmets, so unless you want to, you have to bring nothing yourself.
Skip, Can you be the camera guy while we are driving ? I will be bringing both video & digital still. Dave
Andreas, my wife leaves town that afternoon, so as soon as I find out her schedule that day I'll know if I'm in or out.

It is with great sadness and frustration that I must pull out. An unavoidable family obligation has come up. I was really looking forward to meeting you guys in person---hopefully there will be a next time. By my count you still have at least eight drivers, right? I hope this will not mess up your arrangements. Chuck King
Thanks for the heads-up, but we are getting in trouble now: Rocketboy isn't sure, whether he can make it at which point we're below the 8 limit. ANYBODY ELSE WHO WOULD LIKE TO JOIN??? I guess the good news is, that everybody is currently qualified for the final race...
