Good evening, did not pass the mandatory inspection this morning, for the ABS light in the dash not illuminating when the inspector turned the key... ((( Upside: we immediately cancelled the inspection, so it did not cost the fee Anyway, went to search for the culprid, and took off the cover in the right front bay to discover that one fuse is missing: Image Unavailable, Please Login Now the right ones both carry 30A fuses, the middle left one (orange Relais) carries only a 3A fuse. Does anybody know what value should be stuck in the far left one? (that would be the one most up front of the car in fact). Thank you, Mondi Cab
That fuse is for testing purposes only . It's not supposed to be there in normal operation, I have a Teves MKII ABS Ferrari manual that lists diagnostic procedures to be used when this fuse is installed. Alden Image Unavailable, Please Login
aha! Thank you Alden. Ok, missing fuse not to worry about. but that ABS light remains the mystery to be solved: Whilst fiddling with a multimeter to see if there were current on that fuse socket, the car remained with ignition ON. After about 10min, there was a short sound like of an electrical pump, and the ABS light came on. Turned key a few times, to double check, and yes it came on. ... last night.. This morning, no more. By the way, the red 'Brake' light next to the check engine light does not come on either although it should according to the manual. Any guidance on where to check next?
Do you have the Teves MK II/Ferrari repair manual? The test procedures in that manual are quite detailed and lengthy. Alden
Hello Alden, No, just the driver's manual. BTW: After a some de-oxid spraying of the connectors around the ABS controller and at the other side around the brake master, my "BRAKE" light next to the Check engine light does come on at start... The ABS light came on twice after a night of parking, but never at a warm start. (nor does the Brake light at warm starts). And today I found out that the ABS is NOT working. (had to slam the brakes due to a speed cam and left some nice skidmarks on the A1...) According to the manual, an illuminated ABS light would warn of the system not being operational, but it was just off. Would it be possible to scan those relevant pages in your repair manual?
