F8 Price check on high mileage F8

C4sxm5 We tuned this car. The stock turbos on the 488/F8 are known to fail and this car has fixed turbos. The brand is LM turbos (LaderManufaktur) based in Germany who makes turbos for Bugatti. The springs are adjustable and can be set at an appropriate height for you and it comes with all of the stock parts (intercoolers, exhaust, springs, wheels). The car was never rented, just enjoyed by the owner and oil changes were done at 3500, 8000, 10000 (with turbos), and 16k.

Seems like good parts and I hear you all do good tuning work. Question for you... from what I've read I was understanding the 488 and F8 Turbo's are different. The part numbers I know are different but the F8 Turbo's are supposed to be a little beefier thus more reliable than 488 Turbo's.

 

They aren’t beefier at all. They added speed sensors to the pista, f8, sf90 to try and keep the rpm in the turbo down so it doesn’t let go but they’re just junk turbos.

 

I'm trying to evade the DOJ, FBI and any other gov't agency snooping on here.... (LOL)

 

Three questions:

1. Do you have the original ECU files if someone wanted to bring this back to stock?
2. If the original files were reinstalled, could the dealer tell it had a previous tune done on it?
3. In the list of stock parts that come with the car, you didn't mention the turbos. Was this an oversight or are they not available?

Hmmm. Looks like that car is wrapped a color red, as build plate says Nero. Though it looks really sharp w/those silver wheels and calipers.

 

Apparently according to HD Tuner a stock F8 is junk.

That's Stevens car. It was built the right way. Nothing sketchy or unreliable about it. Put down 820 whp.

I just ran across this car on InstaGram...I was going to post it here too. LOL. I do like the car especially the interior.

Not a fan of the popcorn machine crap on deceleration and fake lets make flames tune. I'd rather tune the car for just reliability and some power. They tune in these flames and extra pops. Not much on 22" wheels either...I like more performance race inspired mod's...that's just me.

If they can find someone that wants a tuned F8 and they can be more realistic with pricing the car will sell. In the Ferrari world it's extremely hard to sell a mod'd car like this. I ran into this with a couple 997 and 991 GT Porsches that I had with mod's and ended up taking everything off and selling piece by piece on Rennlist. What a pain but they sold. Hell I can't even get any interest on the HRE wheels I have that fit 488/F8 probably other Ferrari's to sell.

No. Amazing car, with some mechanical flaws. You can search it, it’s all over the forum. The stock turbos are junk and fail all the time stock or not.

They were swapped for more power and reliability.

The burbles can be removed. Some love it, some don’t.

 

Wait, are you telling us that the stock turbos are still in the car but irreversibly modified? I'm confused.

 

Basically, yes. They use the stock turbo housing and modify the inside.

 

I was told by the dealer they would return it to original because the owner kept the parts to do it. This car is branded now in my opinion. No way it could get a CPO unless the turbos were replaced which is very expensive. However, I'm sure someone will pay for it the way it is and at a higher price than I would. It's probably fine, but not for me. Thanks for being more honest than the dealer was with me.

 

That's very interesting, thank you for sharing. Does make more sense that it's an "upgrade" then to support the higher boost of a tune (rather than an owner blowing out the stock ones).

 

This is why we err on the side of caution when tuning these. We don’t increase peak boost over the factory limits on stock turbos. All the gains with a tune on stock turbos are mid and low range.

 

1st turbo failure is not "all over the forum" on 488/F8. A few have failed and most that have are stock Turbo's on cars that are not stock anymore. There was a few that possibly were stock but the original poster has a few posts and then disappeared. Some probably ran the turbo's hot and shut the car off and that can lead to parts issues.
I wish the stock turbos were over designed and beefier but they fit the car in OEM spec just like Porsche's turbo's do and others.
