Yes. I even have a great picture getting the front tires to 160+ or something like that after a spirited drive. Also, the front left tire always runs a bit hotter than the right as there is an intercooler or something there.
My 2018 488 GTB shows both pressure and temperatures for all four tires, surrounding a pictogram of the tires, on the left TFT screen. It's the screen I always pull up right after starting the car. I typically leave it on that screen while driving, with occasional brief changes to check oil and water temps, &/or oil pressure/charging status.
I do the same- the new screen shows the pressure but not the exact temp though the various elements will change color to reflect operating range.
Seems like the sort of thing Ferrari could easily add to the 296 or SF90 with just a software update. I’d be curious why they wouldn’t have it by default though. The sensors have the data and there’s plenty of screen real estate to display it.
So the newest cars don’t have it. 296, Roma, and my SF90 doesn’t seem to have it either. Interesting.
Right- though they do show the graphic of the car and it shows the systems- like engine, tires, brakes, as blue when cold, green when good, and red if too hot. It’s like having the older cars’ VDA and the tire screens combined. And since pressure and temp are related you can get an idea. I’m with you all, Id still like to see the numbers.. Im sure they could add it if they wanted. Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat
Agree on entry and exist. My wife and I are in our seventies and we pour and stagger ourselves out! Otherwise Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?
BTW to those that don’t like the CarPlay taking up the whole dash, just wake up the controls with the directional pad and press the back arrow on the top left of the pad, and the screen goes back to the regular tach with CarPlay only in one of the side windows. Left and right on the pad then shuffles the window arrangement.
Literally my first question to the dealer after driving the car on my own for the first time. How the heck do I get car play off the damned interface!. If only you could opt to not have to wake the touch pads up first. Yeah it stops you accidentally pressing something but if they'd have left buttons there we wouldn't need it! Just tapping the touch pad in a certain way is annoying and then you have to look down and find the lit up area. Absolutely love the 296... but the touch controls.. not so much
I feel ya. Drove home from the dealer the first day and I couldn't figure out how to get Car Play off the whole display. Drove me nuts all the way home. Shouldn't be that complicated, but I guess i'm too old in the demographic order to understand it.
Nope it is not you. It just isn't intuitive across the board. How do you know to press a button you can't even see! With car play itself, it is designed to be used on a touch screen. It CAN be used with off screen controls but it is clunky - for example if you want to move a map up on a phone you just swipe up, with a controller (the touch pad in this case) you have to select a sometimes tiny on screen icon, look to see if it is selected and then tap the pad. On top of that it is slow to respond with apps like Waze anyway. Form over function. Mind you the steering wheel does look pretty
Enjoying my 296 but I also not thrilled with the way they implement car play. I did minimize it with the back button. One tile is taken up by my apple music but the navigation tile will not run waze in the background only the native Ferrari nav. That's unfortunate since I use car play primarily for waze.
I am hoping when Apple get this AI siri update available we can start using car play in a more intutive way with a Siri that actually understands what you are requesting. Currently it is, at best, amusing.
I think no Waze data coming through on to the main tach screen is on apple’s end. If you try using Maps with the 296 and go back to the main screen, you should see the turn by turn arrows, this happens with other cars as well. But for some reason, it doesn’t work with Waze. I have a feeling it’s a rights thing between Google (Waze owner) and Apple. What I do for times I dont need directions but want the traffic updates is leave waze running and then flip back to the main screen. This will still send alerts through. If I need the directions, I keep the CarPlay screen running and it is what it is. The physical Ferrari screen is a nice bright screen with great resolution. Its a shame they couldnt fit CarPlay inside a window in this screen- Im 99% sure this is a rights thing and CarPlay’s terms say it has to take over the screen, a few car related items can remain like speed and gear but thats about it. They should update the terms. Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat
As we have strayed into maps... I am not too sure if this comes from Apple Maps or, more likely, Ferrari's own map data but the heads up display has a very nice corner tightness value/display.
Here's something that is aggravating, the freaking carpet peg under the driver's side mat doesn't actually fit the hole it is supposed to go into, as the peg is too small and has no lip so it flops out and the carpet slides around under my feet constantly. Image Unavailable, Please Login
